  Emanuel Barnes was born in Illinois to Henry Barnes and Dorothy Abbott Barnes. He was living with the John Abbott family in 1880 and married to widow Anna Abbott (Tennessee America Wright) in 1891. They had one child together, George Benton Barnes. His death record states he was buried at Old Homer Cemetery 7 Mar 1916. The grave location is not known. His widow and son are buried at Homer G.A.R. Cemetery.
