Homer(CNS)George Benton Barnes, 80, of Homer, died Wednesday afternoon (Aug. 18, 1971) at the Danville Care North Nursing Home. He had been a patient a week.
Born July 9, 1891, at Homer, he was the son of Manuel and Anna Wright Barnes. He was a veteran of World War I.
He had resided in Homer until 20 years ago, when he entered the Veterans Administration Hospital in Danville. He later was a patient at a nursing home at Golconda.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
Services will be at 2 p. m. Friday at the Kirby Funeral Home, with the Rev. Harold Flessner officiating. Burial will be in Homer GAR Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Thursday.
