  Ellen R. Hendrix, 97, of Bloomington, died at 2:28 a.m. Sunday (Sept. 20, 2015) at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal. Ellen was born Jan. 19, 1918 in Liberty Center, Indiana to Bert and Fay Coquilette Petty. She married Thomas Hendrix on June 6, 1944 in Illinois. He preceded her in death in April 1994 in Bloomington. She was also preceded by two brothers, Mason and Cecil Petty and one son, Alan Thomas Hendrix. She is survived by her two daughters, Charlene (Carla Hoskins) Elle En and Lillian Hendrix; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In 1939, Ellen graduated from Illinois State Normal University in Normal with a degree in education. She then taught in junior highs around Illinois until she retired in the late 1980s.
