- Joseph M. Crane, 81, of Olney, died at 2:35 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 1997, at Richland Memorial Hospital.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney, with Rev. Fr. Jerry Wirth officiating. Burial will be in Crest Haven Cemetery in Claremont with full military rites performed by the Olney Veterans Organizations. Visitation will he Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney, with a prayer service at 5 p.m.
Memorials can be made to Olney Tiger Booster Club or St. Joseph Athletic Fund.
Crane was born Feb. 20, 1916, in Vincennes Ind., the son of Charles F. and Elizabeth (Dodds) Crane. He married Ruth Ledeker June 11, 1947, in Bridgeport.
He was a retired meter reader for CIPS and was a part-time custodian for First National Bank in Olney. He was a WWII U.S. Army Air Corp. veteran, was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney, and the American Legion, and was very active in Olney sports programs for many years.
He is survived by his wife; two brothers, Robert Crane, of LaGrange Park, and John Franklin Crane, of Bridgeport; one sister, Kathryn Eckstein of Battle Creek, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother.
