Notes |
- Mrs. Ovella Cloninger, 73, resident of Fairfield for a number of years since her retirement, died unexpectedly at 5:38 p.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville, Ind. Mrs. Cloninger has been in frail health for a number
of years, suffering from a kidney problem. She was required to take regular kidney dialysis treatments every two or three days in Evansville.
Died During Surgery
The Press was told that she died while undergoing surgery to replace an attachment in her arm used in the dialysis treatments.
She resided at 406 East Center Street. Services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Nales Funeral Home with Rev. Don Sweet officiating. Burial was in the West Church cemetery near Mt. Erie.
Mrs. Cloninger was born in Wayne County near Mt. Erie on Nov. 5, 1906, the daughter of James and Nellie (McDowell) Bushong. She was married to Francis Cloninger, who farmed
in Missouri near St. Louis. He died in 1967. Mrs. Cloninger lived in the St. Louis area for over 40 years. She worked as a private nurse, helping take care of elderly people. After her husband's death, she retired and moved to Fairfield. She was a member of the West Church near Mt. Erie. Her only survivor, a brother, Joe Bushong, of Springerton, died on Wednesday, the day before her death. A story about his funeral arrangements appears in today's Press. Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Clayton and Joe Bushong, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Yohe.
