- Bernice W. Hardig McDowell, 70, 532 W. South, Olney, died Sunday at 4:40 a.m. in Richland Memorial Hospital.
Services will be in St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Fathers Gary Behrman and
Bill Rowe presiding. Visitation will be in Summers Funeral Home. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in West Cemetery in Wayne County.
Mrs. McDowell was born July I, 1912, in Richland County, the daughter of Sam and Alice (Tracy) Phillips. She married Charles Daniel Hardig and he died in 1962. She then married Cloyd McDowell Jan. 26, 1981 in Olney and he survives.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Other survivors include three sons, Marion Hardig, Cedar Lake, Ind.; Donald Hardig, Vincennes, Ind.; Richard Hardig, Steger; five daughters, Mrs. William (Rosanna) Wyatt, Olney; Mrs. Walter (Thrisella) Hornung, Germany; Mrs. William (Geraldine) Read, West Salem; Mrs. Wilbur (Mary) Brault, and Mrs. Robert (Loretta) Duncan, both of Olney; a step-son, Robert McDowell, Olney; a step-daughter, Mrs. Imogene Kauble, Fairfield; two brothers, Richard Phillips, Robinson; and Kenneth Phillips, St. Francisville; three sisters, Juanita Cotton, and Geneva Rosenberry, both of Bridgeport; and Catherine Weller,
Cedar Lake; 31 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband; a grandchild; and a sister.
