- Frederick W. Kluthe died last Thursday at Bible Grove, aged 70 years and 14 days. Deceased suffered a stroke two years ago and had a second seizure last year. While preparing a potato patch he was stricken a third time Wednesday, April 15, expiring next day. Deceased was born April 2, 1844, at Westphalla, Germany, and came to this country in 1848, settling for several years in St. Louis and moving from thence to Washington county, locating first at Okawville and later at Plum Hill and from there to a farm near Winterrowd. He was a patriotic citizen and during the civil War enlisted in 1862 in Co. K, 80th Ill. Inf., serving nearly three years.
In March, 1867, he was married to Miss Sophia Krueger, who survives him.
He leaves four sons and four daughters, two sisters, Mrs. Christine Poehler of Effingham county and Mrs. Hy Krueger of Nashville and many other relatives and friends. Deceased, who was esteemed by all who knew him, two years ago made his home at Bible Grove, Clay county, where he owned a fine property.
The funeral took place Saturday afternoon in the Evangelical church at Bible Grove. Interment was made in the Evangelical cemetery.
Mr. and Mrs. Hy. Krueger, Mrs. Wm. Fehrman of here, Miss Amelia Krueger, Geo. Wulfmeyer and Hy Krueger, son of the late Fred Krueger attended the funeral. Deceased onMarch 26 was present at the funeral of the late F. M. Krueger.
