- Amanda Gahan Branson,82, who had lived in Decatur 36 years, died Wednesday morning in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lida M. Fields, 304 North Oakcrest avenue. Mrs. Branson's death was caused by a heart ailment. She was the mother in law of John Rehfelt, city commissioner.
Amanda Gahan was born in Jeffersonville, Ind. April 13, 1853. She was married to Anthony Hantz who died. Her second husband, William Branson, died eight years ago in Mattoon. She was a member of the West Side Church of the Nazarene.
She leaves one son, Walter Hantz and four daughters, Mrs. Lida Fields, Mrs. John Rehfelt, and Mrs. Chester Schwab, all of Decatur, and Mrs. Jack Shorb of Hammond, Ind.; three brothers, George Gahan of Long Beach, Calif., Andrew Gahan of Xenia and James Gahan of Flora; a sister, Mrs. Mary Johnson of Xenia.
