- Former longtime Flora resident Dollie Mae (Payne) Farris, 86, passed away peacefully at home in Phoenix, Arizona, on Tuesday, March 24, 2015.
She was born in Flora, Illinois, on July 18, 1928, to Effie Elizabeth and Clarence George Payne.
Dollie lived most of her life in Flora where she worked many years at the original East End Café and was a member of the First Methodist Church, as well as a member of the Board. She later moved to Arizona in 2002 where she remained until the time of her death.
Dollie leaves behind four children, Donna (Shehorn) Gagnon of Glendale, AZ, Connie (Shehorn) Dow of Phoenix, AZ, Bill Farris of Flora and Gina (Farris) & Clay Jenkins of Glendale, AZ. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson; two sisters Zelda Devore and Elsie Phelps, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, and a sister.
Funeral services was held on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at Kohn Funeral Home in Flora.
Burial at Elmwood Cemetery, followed by a reception at the First Methodist Church.
Expressions of sympathy should take the form of donations to the First Methodist Church or Alzheimer's organization.
