- Madonna Rose Kirts, age 74, of Robinson, Illinois, passed away on Monday (February 8, 2016) at Heritage Manner after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Larry Kirts of Robinson.
Madonna was born in Olney, Illinois on November 8, 1941, and grew up in Wendelin, Illinois. She was the daughter of the late Dorothy and Lawrence Fehrenbacher.
She was grounded in deep faith, involved in many activities, and enjoyed golfing until her illness struck in 2013.
Besides her husband, Madonna leaves her daughter, Cindy Gruensfelder, her son-in-law, Donn Gruensfelder, and four beloved grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, Hannah, and Sarah Gruensfelder, all of St. Louis, MO. Madonna also leaves behind her cherished sister, Mary Jo McKinney of Olney, Illinois, as well as numerous brother and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Paul and Thomas Fehrenbacher.
Madonna was a wonderful and giving person who was deeply rooted in her faith and who loved spending time with her grandchildren. For over thirty years she was the bookkeeper and buyer for Alblinger and Kirts Hardware in Oblong, IL. She was also a phenomenal golfer, with her husband Larry, a member of Quail Creek Country Club and of Oak Glen Golf Course. She was an avid reader, and incredible cook whose fruit pies were the favorites of many.
The visitation will be held on Thursday, February 11, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Pulliam Funeral Home in Robinson, Illinois. The funeral Mass will be held Friday, February 12 at 10:00 am at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Robinson, Illinois.
Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Wendelin, Illinois.
