    • Harold O. Gill, 95, of Clay City passed away on Friday, November 10, 2017 in Flora, IL.

      Harold was born June 28, 1922 in Wayne Co., IL to parents Joseph Robert and Amy Evelyn (Scrugham) Gill. He was united in marriage on July 30, 1940 to Amy Anderson in Henderson, KY. She preceded him in death on September 24, 1994.

      Harold attended Woodside School in Wayne County, IL. Harold's first job was working for Pure Oil using his team of horses at the age of 14, which he continued until he was drafted into the Army during WW II in 1944. He served his country in Germany then upon his return home he continued to work for Pure Oil until 1963. Harold then went to work full time raising live stock, farming, and pumping oil wells. He was an avid coon hunter. Harold served several terms on the Sailor Springs school board. He was a member of the Sailor Springs Christian Church and American Legion.

      Survived by Daughter, Joann (Clifford) Bailey of Sailor Springs; Daughter, Judy Carder of Clay City; Son, Jeff (Kahla) Gill of Clay City; seven Grandchildren, Teresa (Harold Barbour) Bailey, Tammy (Bob Frye) Bailey, Shane (Deanna) Carder, Craig (Leslie) Carder, Justin (Meghan) Gill, Jason Gill, and Janetta (Ryan Phillips) Wolz; 7-Great grandchildren, Brett, Brock, Allison, Landon, and Lanie Carder, McKenna and Nina Gill; Sister, Nevada Evelyn Prichard of The Villages, FL; and special nephew Robert Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.

      Preceded in death by parents and wife.

      A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday morning, November 15th, at 10:00am, at DillmanCemtery, in Sailor Springs. Visitation will be Tuesday night, November 14th, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at the Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home, in Clay City.

      Memorials can be made to Dillman Cemetery Fund or Sailor Springs American Legion.
