- William T. "Bill" Hampton, 80, of Flora, IL died at 4:15 AM Sunday, April 3, 2011 at his home in Flora.
He was born May 9, 1930 in Wardell, MO to George & Esther (Bush) Hampton. He married Cheryl Lents on March 25, 1967 in DeKalb, IL.
He was a truck driver retiring from Best Way, Inc. in Vincennes, IN and a member of Elm Street Christian Church in Olney, IL.
Bill enjoyed fishing, gardening, wildlife, the outdoors, and taking care of his family.
He is survived by his wife: Cheryl Hampton; daughters: Cheryl Headlee and Renae Fitch; brothers: Jimmy and Wilbur Hampton; sisters: Betty Daniels and Inez Cossey; and 6 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, a brother, and a granddaughter (Kristian Brown).
A first marriage was to Mary V Yandell-Hampton who he married in 1949. His children with her were Jenny, Vickie, Joyce, Bill, June, and Myshell (They also survive).
Private funeral services were accorded with burial in Floral Garden of Memories, Flora.
Memorials to Clay County Cancer Support Group or Clay County Hospice.
Frank & Bright Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
