Bernita Fae Tootie Cross, 75 of Herrin, passed away at 11:31 a.m., Sunday, November 8, 2020 at Harrisburg Medical Center.
Tootie was born December 11, 1944 in Herrin to Elmer and Edna (Williams) Harvel.
Tootie was retired having been employed by Cabot Industries in Tuscola for many years. She attended the Ferges Free Methodist Church before her health began to fail. She was a 1962 graduate of Herrin High School. She enjoyed playing cards and watching her soaps on the television.
Tootie is survived by two daughters, Michelle Statler of Carterville and Tonya (David) Frick of Johnston City; one son, Sean Cross of Fox Lake; four grandchildren, Talyn and Dalton Frick of Johnston City, Chelsea David of Carterville and Dustin David of Fox Lake; two sisters, Helen Jenkins of Marion and Sue (Jerry) Ranchino of Johnston City. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Tootie was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers, Joe, Carl, Les, Raymond, Bob, Dale and Bill Harvel; two sisters, Waldine Hattie Rice and Virginia Harvel-Waldron.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, November 12, 2020 at Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Jimmy Russell officiating. Interment will follow in Herrin City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City is entrusted with the arrangements.
