Entered active service as a draftee on September 16, 1942 at Camp Grant, Illinois. Selected for the Quartermaster Corps, completed basic training and qualified in the military occupational specialty of Supply Technician (821). Departed the U.S.S. on June 27, 1943 bound for the Pacific Theater of Operations. Assigned to and served with the 1134th Quartermaster Company Service Group in New Guinea, Southern Philippines and Luzon Campaigns. Earned the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 3 bronze battle stars, WWII Victory Medal and the Philippine Liberation Medal with 2 bronze battle stars. Honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant on November 13, 1945 at the Separation Center, Fort Sheridan, Illinois.
