Notes: Betty was a graduate of Wapella High School. She was a self-taught artist who took an art course from Minneapolis, Minn., when she was 18 years old. Since then she has painted presidents and senators in oil and pastel portraits, sceneries and animals. She has paintings and pastels in private collections all over the world, from Wales to England, Italy, Japan and India. In 1984 she won a gold medal from Paris, France, for a self portrait. It was an 18-country competition, 300 artists and 600 paintings. She made several television appearances. Betty married Clifton, Francis Eugene 'Frank' on 5 Apr 1952. Francis died on 10 Feb 2010.
