    Notes:

    Earl M. HERDES, 85, of Clay City, died at 3 a.m., Tuesday, May 16, 1995, at the Clay County Hospital.

    Mr. HERDES was born on Feb. 3, 1910, in Clay County, the son of Charles and Ruby (BYRNE) HERDES. He married Lelia May MITCHEL in 1930. She died in 1994. He was a retired farmer, and a member of the Sailor Springs Christian Church.

    Surviving are one son, David HERDES, of Clay City; three daughters, Donna HERDES of Clay City, Dionne CREAMER of Louisville, and Darlene LAMBIRD of Clay City; one sister, Sadie EVANS of Clay City; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother, one sister and one grandson.

    Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, at the Sailor Springs Christian Church. Brother Larry SCHNAUTZ and Brother Neal KENLEY will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Smith Cemetery, rural Clay City. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the Summers-Kistler Funeral Home, Clay City. Memorials may be made to the Pine Haven or Oblong Children's Home.

    Earl married Mitchel, Lelia May in 1930. Lelia (daughter of Mitchel, Perry Lester and Hunley, Bertha K.) was born on 19 May 1911 in Pixley Township, Clay County, Illinois; died on 14 Nov 1994 in Welborn Baptist Hospital, Evansville, Vanderburgh County, Indiana; was buried on 17 Nov 1994 in Smith Cemetery, Sailor Springs, Clay County, Illinois.     Donna Eugenia Herdes, 81, of Clay City, died at 11:15 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2014, at Flora Gardens.

    Ms. Herdes was born August 2, 1932, in Clay County, the daughter of Earl Monroe and Lelia May (Mitchel) Herdes.

    Donna enjoyed visiting with friends and family. She was a lifelong member of Sailor Springs Christian Church.

    ?She is survived by sister, Dionne Creamer; sister, Darlene Williams; brother, David Herdes; nieces, Teresa (Mike) Yates, Regina (Paul) Schnepper, Kathy (Carl) Lauderback, Karita (Bradley) Stevens, and Lelia Herdes Newman; nephews, Raymond (Lori) Williams and Pvt. David E. Herdes Jr.; along with many great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.

    Ms. Herdes was preceded in death by her parents, a nephew, Wayne Alan Williams, and a sister-in-law, Peggy Herdes.

    Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 10 at Sailor Springs Christian Church with Minister Tim Schnautz officiating.

    Burial will be in Smith Cemetery.

    Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 9 at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Clay City.

    Memorials may be made to Clay County Hospice.
