    DECATUR -Sam Frank Jr., 69, of Decatur died 11:30 p.m. Sunday (April 5, 1992) in Veterans Administration Hospital, Danville.

    Mr. Frank was born in Clay City on Dec. 4, 1922, son of Sam and Mary Catherine"Katie" Montgomery Frank Sr. He was a boilermaker at Superior Welding for 31 years, retiring in 1986. He was a World War II Air Force veteran and a life member of VFW Post 35224. He married Mary Colborn in 1947.

    Surviving are his wife; sons, George W. and Mike D. Frank; daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Marcie) Skelton; brother, Ben; sisters, Alberta Gumble Mrs. Carl (Blanche) Crouse; Mrs. Russell (Kathryn) Milner; Mrs. Joe (Mary Lou) Husley; Mrs. Norman (Nadine) Mosley, Shirley Schnautz; Mrs. Nolan (Faye) Franklin; grandchildren, Jim Frank; Katie Frank, Leilani Frank and Jennifer Frank.

    Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

    Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home.

    There will be no services. Memorials: donor's choice.

    Military Service:
    Entered active service as a draftee on February 7, 1945 at Chicago, Illinois. Selected for the army air Forces, completed basic training and qualified in the military occupational specialty of Supply Clerk (835). Departed the U.S. on august 10, 1945 bound for the Pacific Theater of Operations. Assigned to and served with 544th Base Headquarters and Air Base Squadron. Earned the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. Honorably discharged as a Corporal on August 23, 1946 at the Separation Center, Fort Sheridan, Illinois.
