    Notes:

    Dickie Ray Young, age 78, of Clay City, Illinois, passed away early Friday morning, February 21, 2020, at his home in the care of his loving family.

    He was born April 26, 1941, in Flora, and was the son of John Wesley and Beulah Ann (Wathan) Young. He was united in marriage to Frances K. Goings on August 8, 1959, in Clay City, and together they shared 46 years of marriage until she passed away July 5, 2006.

    Dick’s life and love were his family, faith, and the oilfield. The people he considered family often extended to anyone who stepped through the door of his home, and he answered to “grandpa” from so many beyond his own grandchildren. Over the years, he worked for C.D. Reed, Doc & Tom Abner, and Shelby Britton. He went on to become a production man for Tandem Investments, and later retired from DakFam, Inc. He was a skilled welder, and his family will never forget his fondness for a variety of Little Debbie Snack Cakes . Dick’s spirit of faith, personal mission, and belief in a “new beginning” were a cornerstone of his life. Dick and Frances were longtime members of the Clay City First Baptist Church where Dick served as Deacon.

    He is survived by three children: Charles “Chuck” Young of Clay City, Richard Young of Flora, and Teresa (Leslye) Young of Foley, AL; daughter-in-law: Lori Young of Marion, KY; grandchildren: Jill Young (Mark Lewis) of Clay City, Misty (Matt) Lindeman of Clay City, Mandy Sullens (Cody Jay) of Cisne, Heather (Caleb) Middleton of Kinmundy, Jessica Young (Travis Wilson) of Clay City, Sarah (Brandon) Tinsley of Marion, KY, Karl (Cheyenne) Young of Flora, John Robert Young of Olney, Steven Long of Clay City, Nathan (Brianne) Young of Clay City, Chris (Sierra) Young of Flora; 34 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother: Eldon (Freida) Young of Watson; and two sisters: Kay Zech of Austin, TX, and Sue (John) Gay of Claremont.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings: Tom Young, Dean Young, William 'Bill' Wathan, Althea “Dude” Guinn, Bonnie Hayes, and Nita Stanley.

    A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow in Clay City Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to the family to assist with expenses and will be accepted through the funeral home.

    Jack “Jackie” Edwin Stanford Jr., age 77, of Louisville, Illinois, passed away Saturday morning, December 16, 2023, at his home.

    He was born March 10, 1946, in Effingham, the son of Jack Edwin and Leona Mae (Cosner) Stanford. He was united in marriage to Beulah Ann Guinn on December 19, 2002, and together they shared almost 21 wedding anniversaries.

    Jack was a graduate of Civic Memorial High School in Bethalto. He proudly served his country in the Marines during the Vietnam War, working as an airplane mechanic and earning several medals for his service. He later worked as an electrician for Olin Corporation until retirement. Jack was a 50-year member of the Louisville American Legion Post 14 and a member of the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening, mushroom hunting, playing billiards, and spending time with his family.

    A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow in Orchard Hill Cemetery, Louisville, with the presentation of military funeral honors. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to the Louisville American Legion Post 914 or to the family, and these will be accepted through the funeral home.

    Jack was a graduate of Civic Memorial High School in Bethalto. He proudly served his country in the Marines during the Vietnam War, working as an airplane mechanic and earning several medals for his service. He later worked as an electrician for Olin Corporation until retirement. Jack was a 50-year member of the Louisville American Legion Post 14 and a member of the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening, mushroom hunting, playing billiards, and spending time with his family.

    Jack “Jackie” Edwin Stanford Jr., age 77, of Louisville, Illinois, passed away Saturday morning, December 16, 2023, at his home.

    He was born March 10, 1946, in Effingham, the son of Jack Edwin and Leona Mae (Cosner) Stanford. He was united in marriage to Beulah Ann Guinn on December 19, 2002, and together they shared almost 21 wedding anniversaries.

    Jack was a graduate of Civic Memorial High School in Bethalto. He proudly served his country in the Marines during the Vietnam War, working as an airplane mechanic and earning several medals for his service. He later worked as an electrician for Olin Corporation until retirement. Jack was a 50-year member of the Louisville American Legion Post 14 and a member of the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening, mushroom hunting, playing billiards, and spending time with his family.

    A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow in Orchard Hill Cemetery, Louisville, with the presentation of military funeral honors. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to the Louisville American Legion Post 914 or to the family, and these will be accepted through the funeral home.
