Growing up in Clay City, when she was not tending to her studies and school work, she had the unique experience of working at her family's restaurant, Sunday's Ice Cream Parlor. Sunday's was the "it" establishment in Southern Illinois known for the best homemade ice cream in the region. She attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale where she met Mark Yeates the ultimate love of her life. Mark and Linda were married in Kankakee, Illinois on June 6, 1964. They initially lived in Peoria, Illinois where Linda was an elementary school teacher and Mark was trying his hand in sales and marketing roles with local companies. In 1967 Mark accepted a position with Eastman Kodak Company and off she went with Mark and their two year old son Andy to relocate to Rochester, New York, where she continued to teach at the elementary school level.
