    Notes:

    Since he grew up working on his granddad's farm as a young man in Clay County, IL, he developed a true passion for farming which continued throughout his life. He enlisted in the United States Air Force from 1942 to 1945 in World War II in both North Africa and Italy.

    After his return from the war, Jack worked for the Uniroyal Tire Company in Detroit, MI where he lived until his retirement. He resided in Alabama since his retirement in 1976. He and Jewel have been members of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Chuurch for all those years. Jack was active in the American Legion, serving as a Commander, the VFW, President of Civitan and the Masonic Lodge. His love of farming continued until age 72 when the sport of golf became his new passion and he enjoyed that wonderful sport with family and friends well into his 80's.

    Military Service:
    Entered active service as a draftee on October 13, 1942 at Camp Grant, Illinois. Selected for the Army Air Forces, completed basic training, attended the 19 week airplane mechanics service school, and later qualified in the military occupational specialty of administrative non-commissioned officer (502). Departed the Continental U.S. on August 21, 1943 bound for the European Theater of Operations. Assigned to and served with the 312th Depot Repair Squadron, 41st Air Depot Group through the Naples-Foggia and Rome-Arno Campaigns. Earned the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with two bronze battle stars and the WWII Victory Medal. Honorably discharged as a Sergeant on December 1, 1945 at the Separation Center, Camp Grant, Illinois.

    She was born March 6, 1922 in Clay City, IL to Henry & Versa (Zimmerman) Bissey. She married Henry C. Skelton on May 1, 1941 in Clay City. He preceded her in death on March 15, 1992.

    Eula was a homemaker, member of Harmony United Methodist Church, past member of the True Blue Sunday School Class of the church and member of the Flora Rebekah Lodge.

    She is survived by 2 daughters: Kay (Bill) Kitley of Flora and Susan (Steve) Oglesby of Houston, TX; 5 grandchildren: Kent (Tisha) Kitley of Flora, Deanna (Shane) Carder of Clay City, Matthew (Karen) Oglesby of Houston, TX, Jenny (Steve) Henson of Flora & Leigh Oglesby of Ft.     Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, May 21, 2007 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home. Burial will be in Kneff Cemetery in Flora. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Harmony United Methodist Church and may be received at the funeral home.

    Dale Bissey, 79, of Tuscola, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2005 at his home.

    Visitation will be Tuesday, December 20th, from 5 p.m. To 7 p.m. at Hilligoss-Shrader, 705 S. Main Street in Tuscola. The memorial service will be held Wednesday the 21st at 11 a.m., also at Hilligoss-Shrader.

    Mr. Bissey was born in Clay County, Illinois on November 11, 1926 to Henry Roland and Versa Zimmerman Bissey. From 1944 to 1947, Mr. Bissey served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant. He attended Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois, graduating in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Mr. Bissey also attended St. Norbert College in West DePere, Wisconsin, Virginia Military Institute, and the University of Michigan. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

    After receiving his business degree, Mr. Bissey accepted a position at Firestone Tire & Rubber Company, where he worked for four years. On September 9, 1956, Mr. Bissey established his own business, Bissey's Sales & Service in Tuscola. For 49 years, the business provided gasoline, tires and vehicle service to citizens of Tuscola, Douglas County, and the surrounding area. In previous years, Mr. Bissey was a member of the Kiwanis Club and served as both Deacon and Elder in the Presbyterian Church.

    An outdoor enthusiast, Mr. Bissey took his family on summer vacations throughout the United States and Canada, including a six week trip to Alaska in 1965. Hiking, camping and exploring remote areas were among his greatest pleasures.

    Survivors include his wife, Mary, and their four children: Patricia Greaves of San Patricio, New Mexico; Randy Bissey of Houston, Texas; Donna Ralph of Zurich, Switzerland; and Brad Bissey of Denver, Colorado; and five grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Jack Bissey of Florence, Alabama; and five sisters: Eula Skelton of Flora, Illinois; Edith Reinerd of Mexico, Missouri; Audrey Weiler of Clay City, Illinois; Doris Sanders of Quincy, Illinois; and Lola James of Tewksbury, Massachusetts.

    Mr. Bissey was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ralph and George Bissey, and sisters Ruth McHenry and Melba Pittman.

    Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to Tuscola Airport Improvement Ltd., P.O. Box 142, Tuscola, IL 61953 or Provena Covenant Hospice Care Program, 1400 West Park Street, Urbana, IL, 61801.

    Military Service:
    With prior service in the Reserve, enlisted and entered active service with the Coast Artillery Corps in the Regular Army. Completed army specialized training reserve program (basic engineering) and army specialized training program (electrical engineering). Served stateside with 22nd Company, Separation Center, War Department Personnel Center, Fort Dix, New Jersey. Honorably discharged as a Sergeant on February 22, 1947, same station. Earned the WWII Victory Medal.

    TEWKSBURY -- Mrs. Lola (Bissey) James, 85, passed away Saturday, June 17th at the Winchester Hospital.

    Lola was born on May 5, 1932 in Clay City, Illinois a daughter of the late Henry J. and Lulu Versa (Zimmerman) Bissey. Loving wife of forty-seven years to the late Richard G. "Dick" James whom she lost in 2004.

    Lola was a homemaker helping to raise her children and enjoying watching her family grow to 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was an active member and communicant at the First Baptist Church in Tewksbury where she participated as a Deacon and a member of the Women's Group, Philatheas.

    She is survived by her four children, Duane James and his wife Carmel, David James and his wife Lixandra, Alicia Hunt and her husband George, and Bruce James; eleven grandchildren, Carmel, Kevin, Pamela, Ian, Aaron, and Janelle James, Christopher and Jennifer Hunt, Matthew LaChance, Aidan and Parker James; three sisters, Edith Reinard, Doris Saunders, Audrey Wilder; also many nieces and nephews.
