    Notes:

    Cecil Staser of Clay City died at Clay County Hospital, Flora, IL.

    She was born in Clay County, the daughter of David & Bertha Patridge Murbarger. She married Robert D. Staser on March 17, 1932. He preceded her in death in January of 1978.

    She was a retired cook from the Clay City Grade School and was a member of the Clay City United Methodist Church. She taught Queen Esther Sunday School Class and attended Clay City United Methodist Church Quilting Club.

    Mrs. Staser is survived by a daughter, Patricia Workman; two sons, William and Robert Staser; a special friend, A. J. Crown; brothers Eath Murbarger & Neal Murbarger; 10 grandchildren & eight great-grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three children, seven brothers and one sister.

    Funeral services were held at the Clay City United Methodist Church with burial in the Clay City Cemetery.

    Patricia Workman, 88, of Clay City, died on Saturday, August 14, 2021 in Effingham, Illinois.

    Pat was born on October 26, 1932 in Clay City, Illinois, the daughter of Robert and Cecil (Murbarger) Staser. She married Gene Workman on October 4, 1951 in Clay City, Illinois, and he survives.

    Pat was a fourth-grade teacher at Clay City and Ingraham Grade Schools. In addition to inspiring generations of students to fulfill their life's dreams and to continue their own education, she also taught sewing, decorating, float building, as well as many other skills as a 4H leader and Sunday School teacher. Pat was also a member of Clay City Christian Church.

    Pat took pleasure in her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren's activities. She also loved knowing what was going on in her previous students' lives.

    Pat was a beloved teacher who cared deeply about her community. Her family, students, and community will all miss her inspiration.

    Pat is survived by her husband of nearly 70 years, Gene Workman of Clay City; daughter, Dr. Jo Ellen Jacobs and husband Gary Jacobs of Santa Fe, NM; son, Dr. Rick Workman and wife Angie of Windermere, FL; grandchildren, Megan (Jonathan MacCarthy) Jacobs, Dr. Emily (Michael Goard) Jacobs, Jordan Workman, Jared Workman, Meredith Workman, and Madison Workman; great grandchildren, Elliot MacCarthy-Jacobs, Kieran MacCarthy-Jacobs, and Elowen Goard; brothers, Bill (Elinor) Staser and Robert (Pat) Staser; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Margaret "Peg" Garrett and brother, Bruce Staser.

    A visitation will be held for friends and family on Monday, August 16, 2021, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Clay City.

    A funeral service will be held for Pat at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Clay City. Interment will follow the service at Ingraham Cemetery.

    Memorials can be made to Clay City Christian Church Youth Group or Clay County Cancer Support Group. Donations can be sent to Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home and they will forwarded to the family.

    Robert Dale Staser, 82, of Noble, died on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at his home.



    Robert was born on September 25, 1939 in Clay County, Illinois, the son of Robert David and Cecil (Murbarger) Staser. He married Pat {Patricia Lou} (Iffert) on May 2, 1959 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin, and she survives.



    Bob loved sports all through school and became a coach at the Clay City grade school and later, the high school. He also enjoyed playing slow pitch and fast pitch softball on several state teams. Bob, just like his mother, was a die-hard St. Louis Cardinals fan.



    Bob was always active in the Clay City community and was a volunteer fireman with the CCFD. He was a custodian at the Clay City High School for over 30 years. Bob enjoyed quail hunting with his brother, Bill, and Dutch Hennenberg. His tall tales and wild adventures will be missed by all.



    Bob is survived by his wife of 63 years, Pat Staser of Noble; son, Jeff Staser and wife Barb of Effingham, IL; son, Jerry Staser and Luis of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; son, Dan Staser and wife Melissa of Woodridge, IL; grandchildren, Brooke, Carly, Austin, Morgan, Brandi, Drew, and Zac; several great grandchildren; brother, Bill (Elinor) Staser; and numerous nieces and nephews.



    He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Peg Garrett and Pat Workman; brothers, Bruce and Daniel Staser.



    A visitation will be held for friends and family on Thursday, September 15, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Clay City.



    A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Bob at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 16, 2022 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin.



    Burial will follow the service at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Wendelin.



    Memorials can be made to the Clay County Cancer Crusaders.

    Bruce Staser, 29, Clay City, died at 3 a.m. today at the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana after a long illness.

    Services will be at the Cardascio Funeral Home in Clay City Sunday at 2 p.m. with Bro. Mike Sweeney presiding. Visitation is from 4-9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial is in Clay City Cemetery.

    Mr. Staser was born in Flora Aug. 22, 1951 to Robert and Cecil (Murbarger) Staser. He married Nellie F. Byrley Aug. 27, 1980.

    He was a member of the Clay City Christian Church and the Olney FOP.

    He is survived by a daughter, Sharon, Nobl; two brothers, Bill and Robert, both of Clay City; a sister, Mrs. Gene (Patricia) Workman, Clay City; and his mother, Mrs. Cecil Staser, Clay City.

    brother.
