    Notes:

    Letson Washington Coggan, 96, of St. Simons Island died Wednesday at the Hospice of the Golden Isles.

    A native of Clay County, Ill., Mr. Coggan was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II. He retired as an executive from Sears, Roebuck and Co. after 37 years of service. After retirement, Mr. Coggan donated his time to help companies in Mexico and South America.

    A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

    In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the St. Simons Island Library or Hospice of the Golden Isles.

    Survivors include two sisters, Zelda Blessing of St. Simons Island and Norma Edlin of St. Louis, Mo.; his daughter, Anne Coggan Johnston of Winston-Salem, N.C.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

    Chapman Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

    Notes:

    Zelda C. Blessing, age 98, of Hutchinson, KS formerly of Clay City, IL passed away Thursday, August 29, 2013 at The Arbors at Waldron Place in Hutchinson, KS.

    Zelda was born March 25, 1915 in Clay City, IL to Edward and Daisy (Washington) Coggan. She married John Leonard Blessing in 1936 in Carlyle, IL. He preceded her in death in 1966.

    Zelda assisted her husband at the Blessing Drug Store in Clay City until 1971. She had attended the Clay City United Methodist Church and was a past member of O.E.S. Zelda loved her family and enjoyed traveling in the U.S. and abroad.

    She is survived by her daughter-in-law: Kay C. Blessing; three grandchildren: Deborah R. Green and husband Kevin, Richard "Kent" Blessing and wife Jimmie, Brian John Blessing and wife Holly; five great-grandchildren: Trevor Green, Ashley Green, Allie Blessing, Jacob Blessing, and Coggan Blessing; special niece, Anne Coggan Johnston of Winston-Salem, NC; a great niece, great nephew, a great-great-niece; along with beloved cousin, Betty Turner, and many other family members.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son (Robert Leonard Blessing), brothers (Letson and Kenneth Coggan), and sister (Norma C. Edlin).

    A graveside service for Zelda Blessing was held at Clay City Cemetery.

    The Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora, IL was in charge of arrangements.

    Zelda married Blessing, John Leonord in 1936 in Carlyle, Clinton County, Illinois. John (son of Blessing, Frank M. and Brissenden, Edna I.) was born on 27 Sep 1908 in Illinois; died on 1 Oct 1966; was buried in Clay City Cemetery, Clay City, Clay County, Illinois. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Robert L. Blessing, 53, of Noblesville, IN died June 28, 1991 at St. Vincent Hospital in Carmel, IN.

    Mr. Blessing was born in Clay County, IL son of the late John L. and Zelda Coggan Blessing.

    He was branch manager for C.N.A. Insurance Companies.

    Mr. Blessing is survived by his wife, Kay C. Blessing; one daughter, Deborah R. Green; two sons, Richard Kent and Brian John Blessing; mother, Zelda Blessing; and two grandchildren.

    Funeral services were held at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, Logan Street Chapel with burial in the Clay City Cemetery.

    Memorials can be made to Riverview Hospital Memorial Foundation or to donor's choice of charity.
