    John Herdes, 68, Noble, died in his home.

    Mr. Herdes was born Aug. 21, 1914, in Richland County, the son of Claude & Mamie Evans Herdes. He married Margaret Hasler October 13, 1934 in Springfield and she survives.

    He was a retired oil field worker for Murvin Oil Co.

    Survivors include two sons, bill & Robert; three daughters, Winnie Foerster, Alta Mary Lewis, Tamera Britz; a brother, C. J. Herdes; sisters Elizabeth Ivy, Ethel Carder & 14 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; & two step-great-grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, and two sisters.

    Funeral services were at Hosselton-Bookhout-Engelmeier Funeral Home in Noble with Rev. Larry Schnautz presiding. Burial was in North Freedom Cemetery.

    Kathryn was born April 24, 1932 in Sailor Springs, Illinois, the daughter of Leo Archibald and Clarabelle (Rinnert) Herdes. She married Noel E. Wyatt on August 18, 1949 in Morganfield, Kentucky.

    Kathryn was an avid housewife. She enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening and traveling with the love of her life. She also enjoyed sewing and beating her family at cards, but most of all, Kathryn loved spending time with her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. Kathryn was a member of Sailor Springs Christian Church.

    She is survived by her husband, Noel E. Wyatt; Children, Kenneth Wyatt and wife Dorothy, Wayne Dean Wyatt, and Mona Kay Lewis and husband Steve; Five Grandchildren, Shawn (Kevin) Williams, Charity (Derek) Mitchell, Chad (Penny) Wyatt, Jeremy Fitch, and Cody (Jennifer) Lewis; Eight Great Grandchildren, Kenna, Sabryna, and Josie Williams, Tryston and Bella Wyatt, and Isabella, Lennox, and Pyper Kay Lewis.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Jackie and Benny Herdes, and sister, Patsy Moseley.

    She was a homemaker. Patsy loved riding horses and enjoyed trail riding. She was a member of Sailor Springs Christian Church.

    Patsy is survived by her husband, Zane Moseley; sister, Katherine Wyatt; son, Tim Moseley; grandsons, Joshua, Jacob, Dustin, and Adam Moseley; granddaughter, Crystal Lewis; three stepgrandkids, Justin Clevenger, Bridget Dorman and Keith Clevenger; seven great-grandkids and one on the way.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Clarabelle Herdes, and brothers, Benny and Jack Herdes.

    Funeral services were held at the Summers-Kistler funeral home with Pastor Brad Harris officiating.

    Burial was in Clay City Cemetery.

    A young Noble man, Bennie Lee Herdes died in Richland Memorial Hospital from injuries sustained in a car-train accident. His auto apparently hit a Baltimore and Ohio freight train three miles west of Noble.

    Herdes was an employee of AMF in Olney and attended Olney Central College. He was born in Clay County, November 28, 1946.

    Survivors include his wife, Deana Gaines Herdes; a year old son, Kerry Joe; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Herdes; a brother, Jack Herdes; and two sisters, Kathryn Wyatt and Patsy Moseley.

    Funeral services were held at the Clay City Chapel of Cardascio-Easley Funeral Home with interment in the Clay City Cemetery.

    Billy Joe Herdes, 81, of Noble, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.

    Bill was born on January 28, 1937 in Olney, IL, the son of John W. and Margaret (Hasler) Herdes.

    He married Alice Clara (Stark) on June 6, 1957 and she preceded him in death on February 6, 1999.

    Bill was a US Army Veteran serving in Germany. He worked in the construction trade for nearly 50 years. It's hard to travel around in this area and not see a home that was built by Bill Herdes and Charlie Kuhl. Bill worked on the construction of the CIPS Newton Power Plant. Bill was an avid hunter and raised bird dogs, he also loved horses and enjoyed traveling with his family to horse shows. He was a gun and tractor collector. Bill followed the sports teams of his children for many years and made a lasting impression on the people he met with his unique character. In his later years he took pleasure in visiting with his friends daily on the front porch of his home. He will be missed by all those that knew him. He lost the love of his life, Alice, in 1999. Together they shared 41 years and they were rarely apart.

    Bill is survived by his son, Rick Herdes and wife Sarah of Evansville, IN; son, Wayne Herdes and wife Cindy of Noble; daughter, Bridget Kibler and husband Ken of Passport, IL; daughter, Brenda Coffey and husband Don of Ashmore, IL; grandchildren, Taylor (Andrew) Nichols, Connor Herdes, Macy Coffey, Hannah (Brandon Wolfe) McCarty, Olivia (Nate) Blakemore, and Cash Herdes; sisters, Winnie Forrester, Alta Mary Lewis, and Tamera Herdes Hayes; brother, Bob Herdes; several nieces and nephews; and lifelong friends who checked in on him every day.

    He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

    Memorials can be made to American Cancer Society.

    A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney, with a visitation beginning at 11:30 AM.

    Burial at Freedom Cemetery will take place at a later date. Full Military Rites will be performed at the Funeral Home.

    Cremation Rites will be accorded following services.

    Kenneth "Kenny" Gene Wyatt, 66, of Clay City, Illinois, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2016, at his home in Clay City, surrounded by his family.

    Kenny was born December 28, 1949 in Pixley Township, Clay County, Illinois, the son of Noel Eugene and Kathryn Jean (Herdes) Wyatt. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Conner on January 25, 1973, in Roscommon, Michigan.

    Kenny worked in the oil field for many years. He honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1969-72 during Vietnam and later in the reserves. Kenny very much loved being around family, especially his grandkids, and is remembered for his great sense of humor, often keeping those around him laughing. He enjoyed U-CONN Girls Basketball and enjoyed watching his grandkids play in their ballgames. Kenny’s other interests included fishing, hunting, camping, gardening, horseback trail riding, and skeet shooting. He was a member of Clay City Christian Church and Sailor Springs American Legion Post #230.

    Kenny is survived by his wife: Dorothy Wyatt; children: Shawn Erin Williams (Kevin), Charity Dawn Mitchell (Derek), and Chad Leo Wyatt (Penny); father: Noel Wyatt; brother: Wayne Wyatt; sister: Mona Lewis (Steve); five grandchildren: Kenna, Sabryna and Josie Williams, and Tryston and Bella Wyatt.

    He was preceded in death by his mother.

    Wayne was a 1970 graduate of Clay City High School and was a member of the Sailor Springs Christian Church. He had worked at various factories over the years including the International Shoe Factory, AMF Bicycle Factory, Florsheim Shoe Factory, and North American Lighting, retiring after 47 years. Wayne enjoyed tending to his goats, cows, chickens, and horses on the farm and was especially fond of his Belgian horses. He enjoyed cooking and loved eating sweets. He will be remembered for his kind, giving spirit, his sense of humor, and his loyalty to his friends and family.

    Jake was a disabled combat veteran and proudly served in the Unites States Army as a member of the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team – Airborne 25th Infantry Division out of Fort Richardson, Alaska and participated in Operation Iraqui Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan). He loved spending time with his children, his family and friends, and his four-legged companion Rocco. Hobbies included Harley riding, playing disc golf and listening to alternative red dirt country music. Per Jake’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and a Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday May 29, 2022, from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm at the Centralia American Legion Post 446, 117 South Poplar Street, Centralia, Illinois 62801.
