    Marvin Harold Sharp, 69, of Clay City, died at 4:45 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2006 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

    Visitation will be today at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Clay City. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home with Pastor Brad Harris officiating. Burial will be in Clay City Cemetery.

    Mr. Sharp was born on July 17, 1936, in Clay County, the son of Melvin James and Luella (Mitchell) Sharp. He married Dody Poppe, who preceded him in death in 1986. He married Mable Franklin who preceded him in death in August 2000.

    He was a former owner and employee at M&M Pump Supply in Clay City. He was a member of National Rifle Association and was an avid hunter.

    Mr. Sharp is survived by his mother, Luella Sharp of Clay City; his brother, Ray Dean Sharp and his wife, Dolores of Clay City; his dear friend, Geraldine Shroyer of Clay City; seven children, Rick Sharp and his wife, Vicky of Clay City, Sonya Adams and her husband, Jerry of North Carolina, Jenny Larrimore of Clay City, Shelley Hostettler of Florida, Barb Armstrong and fiance, Joel Henshon of Alabama, Kurt Snell of Clay City and Kim Foreman of Demont, Ind.; 18 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by his father and two wives.

    Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.

    Ray Dean Sharp, 65, of Clay City, died at 1 a.m. Thursday, September 2, 2010, at his residence.

    Ray was born August 24, 1945 to Melvin and Luella Mae Mitchell Sharp. He married Delores Sharp on November 11, 2000. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army in Vitenam. Ray worked road construction and was a member of the Clay City Church of God, VFW, and the American legion of Flora.

    He is survived by his wife and his mother.

    Preceding him in death were his father and brother, Marvin.

    Services were held at the Church of God with Pastor Rob Bowker officiating.

    Burial was in Clay City Cemetery. Full military rites were conducted by Clay County veterans.

    Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Clay City was in charge of arrangements.

    Memorials may be made to Clay County Hospice.

    Shelley J. (Sharp) Joyner, 64, of Clay City, Illinois, died on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.

    Shelley was born on August 3, 1957 in Clay City to Marvin Sharp and Medora (Poppe) Jones.

    Later she married David Joyner, and he preceded her in death.

    Shelley enjoyed helping people in need. She volunteered her time to charitable organizations to help older folks and those in need. She loved to read and to garden.

    Shelley is survived by her sisters, Virginia Larrimore of Clay City, Sonya Adams and husband Jerry of North Wilkesboro, NC, and Barbara Sharp and companion Joel Henshon of Brewton, AL; brother, Richard Sharp of Clay City; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

    She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

    A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 07, 2021 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Clay City, with a visitation beginning one hour prior.
