    His early years were in Noble, Illinois, where his grandparents and many aunts and uncles also lived. But in 1906, when Everett was 8 years old, his father took a homestead claim near Minot, North Dakota. After proving up on the claim they stayeed at Rover, Missouri (east of West Plains) for a year while his father worked out on other farms. Then they stayed two months at Elk City, Oklahoma before returning to North Dakota. From 1910 to 1918 they farmed in North Dakota, but finding very little profit in it they left North Dakota in October 1918 and drove in a Jeffrey car to Cle Elum, Washington. A year later the family moved to Oregon, settling for about three years in Wapinitia, Wasco County, Oregon, USA.

    On 16 Oct 1921, Everett married his wife, Alma May Powell, daughter of local farmer John Melvin Powell and his wife, Della Alice White. They got married in the Wapinitia Church, on a Sunday after a regular church service. For a joke, the congregation sang the hymn, "O for the touch of His hand on mine."

    Soon after they were married, in 1922, they left Wapinitia and moved a few miles away to Maupin, Wasco County, Oregon, USA (this was partly because Maupin received electricity ahead of many of the other communities in Wasco County, Oregon). It was in Maupin that they raised their six children.

    Everett owned and operated Richmond's Garage in Maupin, along with his father and brother (and later two of his sons).

    Rolla married Powell, Alma May on 16 Oct 1921 in Wapinitia Church, Wapinitia, Wasco County, Oregon.     Joseph Eugene Wilson, 84, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away December 14, 2013. He was the son of the late John Bernard Wilson and Mary Lee Meek Wilson.

    Joe was a 1947 graduate of Patoka High School and a 1956 graduate of Oakland City College. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was Honorably Discharged in 1953.

    He received his Master's Degree in Education from Butler University in 1969 and retired from IPS in 1994 having taught at Tech Day Adult School, Indianapolis Juvenile Center, and the Marion County Jail.

    Camping and participating in Civil War reenactments were his hobbies.

    Joe was a member of Chapel Rock Christian Church, the American Legion, and the Retired Teachers Association.

    Joe is survived by his wife, Helen Freund Wilson; daughter, Carolyn Bogar Bernie; son, Joseph Bernard Wilson Jenny; stepdaughters, Linda Fosnight Dave and Sandra Bruning; sister, Linda Colvin Ayers Paul; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hilda Alvis Wilson; daughter, Rebecca Wilson; and sister, Sue Ann Wilcher.

    Visitation will be at Conkle Funeral Home in Speedway on Wednesday, December 18, from 4:00 p.m. until time of service at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery Patoka, Indiana on Thursday at 1 p.m. eastern time.

    Carroll graduated from Maupin High School in 1950, and then moved to Portland to attend Multnomah Bible College. It was there that a roommate gave her the nickname by which she was known the rest of her life - "Penny" (after her beautiful red ha hair).     In the early years of their marriage the couple moved quite a bit, so almost every child was born in a different city. Keven, the eldest, was born in Santa Monica, California; second son Breck was born outside of Boston, Massachusetts; third son Derek was born in San Antonio, Texas; and daughter Kirsty was born in Palo Alto, California. In 1964 the family relocated to Seattle, which they made their permanent residence. Sons Robert and Rorke were born there.

    When the children were young, Penny enjoyed camping and ski trips as well as dinner parties and holiday visits to family in Oregon and California. She took classes in painting and ethnic cooking (which her children were unfortunately too young to appreciate). After the children were older, Penny returned to school at the University of Washington to pursue her interest in art. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in Painting and Art History in 1980, and in 1984 obtained a master's degree in museology with a thesis on fakes and forgeries in Northwest Coast Indian art.

    In addition to her love of art and painting, Penny also loved to read, especially mysteries. She appreciated Seattle's cultural offerings, particularly the museums and theatre. For more than 20 years Penny enjoyed season tickets to both Seattle Repertory Theatre and Civic Light Opera. She attended antique shows, and enjoyed collecting antique silver napkin rings, Southwest American Indian jewelry, and Barbie dolls. As her health began to decline in recent years, Penny continued to enjoy family gatherings and quiet evenings at home watching mysteries or drama on television. Friends will remember her for her kind and generous spirit, her faith in Christ Jesus, and her unwavering support of those she loved.
