    Notes:

    Charles Abbott, age 75, of the Glenwood community northwest of Noble, died last Friday night at the Olney Sanitarium. Death was due to pneumonia.

    Mr. Abbott is survived by his wife, one son, John Abbott, and two daughters, Mrs. Charles Patterson and Mrs. Carlos Brown, all of Noble and vicinity.

    Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Glenwood church with Rev. Jess Kindred in charge and burial was in the Hanna cemetery.

    John Lewis Abbott. 77, for many years a resident of Noble township, died Sunday evening at the Burgin No. 1 Nursing Home after a long period in poor health.

    Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Noble Funeral Home with Brother Gene Everett in charge. Burial will be in Hanna Cemetery, northwest of Noble. Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. Tuesday.

    Mr. Abbott was born west of Noble, son of the late Charles J. and Caroline Patterson Abbott. He followed farming west of Noble for a number of years. He served in the U.S. Army in World WI.

    He was a member of the Glenwood church and the Noble American Legion Post.
    His wife Helen preceded him in death.

    He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Clora Patterson of Noble and Mrs Esther Dannels.

    Clora Edith Patterson, 75, of Noble Rt. 2, passed away Saturday evening at Richland Memorial Hospital.

    She was born in Richland County Sept. 2, 1895. Her husband, Charley, preceded her in death in 1965. They were married in Olney Dec.2,1915.

    Surviving are three sons, Floyd and Glenn, both of Noble, and Carmon of Dixon; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Harry (Esther) Daniels of Flora.

    Services will be held in the Noble Chapel of the Cardascio-Easley Funeral Home, with Rev. Gene
    Everett officiating. Burial will be in the Hanna Cemetery.

    Friends may call at the funeral home.

    She was a member of the Glenwood Church.

    Esther Marie CARLSON, 83, of Flora, formerly of Noble, died at 5:25 p.m., Monday, Jan. 6, 1992, at the Clay County Hospital.

    Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, at the Frank and Bright Funeral Home, Flora. Burial will be in the Hanna Cemetery, rural Noble. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.

    Mrs. CARLSON was born on Nov. 15, 1908, in Richland County, the daughter of Charles K. and Carrie C. (PATTERSON) ABBOTT. She married Carlos BROWN. He died in 1950. She then married Earl KIMPLING. He died in 1955. She married Harry DANNELSs. He died in 1980. She later married Sexton CARLSON in 1982. He survives. She was a member of the First Church of God, Flora.

    Surviving are her husband, Sexton CARLSON of Flora; one daughter, Mrs. Francis (Evelyn Marie BROWN) MORRIS of Clay City; five step-sons, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; and three nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, three husbands, one son, Truman L. BROWN, one brother and one sister.

    Kelly worked several jobs in the past including as a manager for Huck’s in Effingham and in positions at Sparton Manufacturing and GSI in Flora. He had most recently worked at HELLA Electronics in Flora for the past 6 years. He enlisted in the Army and was stationed at Fort Knox but had to return home upon his father’s passing. He enjoyed shopping on weekends in St. Louis and Evansville, playing Xbox with his brothers, and Deer Hunter at the truck stop in Effingham. As a young boy he loved to visit his Grandpa Watson’s store in Clay City and would always ask for a “nanner” meaning banana and often reminisced of the trip he took to California with his good friend Steve Lewis. Kelly was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and everyone will miss his contagious smile.
