    Junior "Lee" Prater, 75, a resident of LaPlace, Louisiana, passed away Friday, October 31, 2008, at the Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home in Reserve, Louisiana.

    He was born February 22, 1933, at Walnut Ridge, Arkansas to Mong and Mable Collins Prater. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War in LaPlace. He was a retired truck driver with Continental Oil Company (Conoco). He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy Mae Stansbury Prater; an infant son, Manuel Lee; three brothers, Forest Eugene, Horace, and Max Prater; and two sisters, Alice Marie Prater and Ellen Mae Powell.

    Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Neal Kerry of LaPlace; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Manuel Lee Prater of Pine Bluff, Gene and Dee Dee Prater of Montz, Louisiana, and Sgt. Major Richard and Rachelle Prater of Chicago, Illinois, who is currently serving our country in Iraq; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, James Prater of Russellville and Ricky Prater of Atkins; four sisters, Joyce Hill of Russellville, Lorene Jackson of Pottsville, Lynda Holbrook of Atkins, and Evelyn Duvall of Moreland; and many loving nephews and nieces.

    A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 7, 2008, at Pisgah Cemetery at Pottsville with the Rev. James Findley officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Veterans of Foreign War Rogers-Rye Post #2283. Arrangements are under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.

    Pallbearers will be Gene, Manuel, Richard, Zane, Jason, and Ricky Prater.

    Buried:
    A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 7, 2008, at Pisgah Cemetery at Pottsville with the Rev. James Findley officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Veterans of Foreign War Rogers-Rye Post #2283. Arrangements are under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.
