GF. F. Fertrude F. Fry, age 88 of Sorento, Illinois, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2022, at Greenville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Greenville.

Funeral will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 8, 2022, at the Donnell - Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville. Interment will follow at Kirkland Cemetery, Sorento, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Donnell - Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville. Memorials may be made to the Sorento Baptist Church.

Gertrude Fitzgerald, the daughter of Addie and Bessie Mae (Allwood) Fitzgerald, was born November 1, 1934 in Flora, Illinois. She was raised in Clay City, attended the local schools, and graduated from Clay City High School with the Class of 1954. Gertrude worked at Watson's Drug Store in Olney, Illinois, then got married and moved to Granite City, Illinois.

Gertrude and Thomas Charles Fry were united in marriage on May 29, 1954 in Olney, Illinois. They started a family in Granite City and moved to Sorento, Illinois in the 1970's. She worked for Hampton's Nursing Home for 37 years. Gertrude and Thomas were members of the Sorento Baptist Church.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband Thomas Charles Fry in 1985, son Jeffery J. Fry, son Robert Lee Fry, and siblings: Irma Webb, Velda Mae Kimmerle, Billy Webb, and grandson Harvey Fry, and great-grandson Leon Fry.

Velda Mae Zimmerle, 85, of Olney, Illinois, died on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at her residence.

Velda was born on May 7, 1936 in Clay County, Illinois, the daughter of Addison Fitzgerald and Bessie (Allwood) Fitzgerald.

Later she married Robert Zimmerle, and he preceded her in death on October 13, 1992.

Velda enjoyed flower gardening, going for walks, and collecting dolls. She had a strong work ethic and worked hard. Velda was very independent but took pleasure in spending time with her family.

Velda Mae Zimmerle is survived by sons, Wayne Zimmerle; Kenneth Zimmerle; Galen Zimmerle; William David Zimmerle; William (Zoe Kincaid) Gaither, Jr.; John Gaither; and Merle Gaither; daughter, Mary (Brian) Fletcher; grandchildren, Holly and Joseph; sister, Gertrude Fry of Sorento, IL; Ruth Webb of Olney and brother, Emery (MaryEllen) Fitzgerald of Sorento, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Zimmerle; long time companion, Bill Gaither; daughter, Diane Zimmerle; and sister, Irma Gene Webb.

A funeral service for Velda will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 20, 2021 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney, with a visitation beginning one-hour prior.

Interment will follow at Maple Dale Cemetery in Olney.

Irma Gene Webb, 80, passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2018, at St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, IL, surrounded by her family.

She was born April 4, 1938, to Addie and Bessie Fitzgerald, in Clay County, IL.

Irma Gene Fitzgerald married Rodger Allen Webb in East Peoria on June 12, 1968. He survives.

Other surviving family members are her son Duane (Kelly) Webb, Congerville; daughters Chris (Steve Cooksey) Webb of Eureka and Diane (Scott, deceased) Clark of Congerville.

Grandchildren are Becky Clark, Logan Fox, Trent and Aaron Cooksey.

She had numerous nieces and nephews.

Irma's siblings are Gertrude (Tom, deceased) Fry of Sorento, IL; Velda (Bob, deceased; friend Bill Gaither, deceased) Zimmerle of Olney, IL; Ruth (Bill, deceased) Webb, also of Olney and Emery (MaryEllen) Fitzgerald of Sorento.

She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Scott Clark, Congerville, IL.

Irma enjoyed spending time with family, being a housewife, gardening and canning. She was employed by General Telephone, Bloomington, Seal Test Ice Cream, Peoria; and Apostolic Christian Home, Eureka.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at the Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Clay City, with a visitation beginning one hour prior. Burial will follow in Clay City Cemetery.
