    Notes:

    Milton Weidner, age 70 of Clay City, died at 7:08 a.m. August 23, in the Clay County Hospital.

    Services were held August 25 at the Hosselton, Bookhout, Engelmeier Funeral Home in Clay City, with burial in the Dillman Cemetery in Sailor Springs.

    Mr. Weidner was born November 6, 1918, the son of Joseph and Philibena Schnautz Weidner. He married Marie Patridge on July 20, 1940 and she survives. He was a retired truck driver for J.W. Rudy.

    Besides his wife, survivors include three daughters, Beverly Dunahee of Grayville, Rose Heathcock, White House, TN., and Carolyn Weidner of Clay City; four sons, Paul, Robert, and Donnie of Clay City and Kenneth of Sailor Springs; four sisters, Bonita Stanley, Olney, Audrey Barcley of Salem, Rae Dean Gill of Mt. Vernon, and Louise Rosenleib of Casper, WY; two brothers, Fletcher Weidner of Jonesville, MI and Danny Weidner of Olney, nineteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

    Military Service:
    Entered active service as a draftee on June 14, 1944 at Fort Sheridan, Illinois. Completed basic training and qualified in the military occupational specialty of Rifleman (745). Departed the Continental U.S. on December 9, 1944 bound for England. Assigned to and fought with Company I, 329th Infantry Regiment, 83rd 'Thunderbolt' Infantry Division in Ardennes Campaign. Wounded by enemy action on January 9, 1945 in Luxembourg, Belgium. Removed from the battlefield for treatment and returned to the U.S. on April 23, 1945 for convalescence. Honorably discharged as a Private with a certificate of disability on June 2, 1945 at Kennedy General Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee. Earned the Purple Heart Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 1 bronze battle star and the WWII Victory Medal.

    June Ogden, 63, Springfield and formerly of Clay City, died at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, in St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

    Services will be conducted Friday at the Clay City Chapel of Hosselton-Brookhout-Engelmeier Funeral Home. Burial will be in Dillman Cemetery at Sailor Springs.

    Mrs. Ogden was born June 12, 1921, in Clay County, the daughter of Joseph and Bena (Schnautz) Weidner. She married Clyde Ogden and he survives. She was a restaurant owner.

    Fuzzy B. Weidner, 56, Clay City, died Saturday at 10 a.m. of natural causes at the John Cochran Veteran’s Hospital in St. Louis.

    Services will be in the Cardascio Funeral Home in Clay City with Bro. Charles Allen presiding. Burial is in Clay City Cemetery with military graveside rites.

    He was born in Sailor Springs June 7, 1924 to Joseph and Bena Eula (Schautz) Weidner. He married Melba Maxine Bryan June 7, 1951 in Clay City. She survives. He was a heavy equipment operator for the J.W. Rudy Co. in Clay City, a member of the Sailor Springs American Legion, and a veteran of World War II.

    Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Sue Weidner, at home; three brothers, Fletcher, Jonesville, Mich., Milton, Clay City, and Danny, Olney; five sisters, June Ogden, Springfield, Audrey Barclay, Salem, Bonita Stanley, Olney, Lois Rosenlieb, Casper, Wyo., and Rae Dean Gill. Mt. Vernon.

Assigned to and fought with Company C, 10th Armored Infantry Battalion, 4th Armored Division, through the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns. Earned the Distinguished Unit Badge, Combat Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 3 bronze battle stars and the WWII Victory Medal. Honorably discharged as a Technician 5th Grade on May 31, 1946 at the Separation Center, Fort Sheridan, Illinois.

    BARBARA ANN ZIMMERMAN, 77, of Clay City, Illinois, passed away Friday, December 27, 2019, at the home of her daughter.

    Barbara was born November 14, 1942, at Olney, Illinois, to Frank and June (Weidner) Walker. She married Galen Max Zimmerman July 10, 1964, at Flora, Illinois. She was a housewife and a member of Zif Baptist Church.

    Barbara is survived by her husband Max of Clay City, Illinois; two daughters Amber (Will) Frohning of Flora, Illinois and Lisa Zimmerman of Clay City, Illinois; one son John Zimmerman of Flora; three sisters Nancy (Tom) Denney of Effingham, Illinois, Frances (Jerry) Quick of Neoga, Illinois and Joanne Hilderbrand-Rogers of Flora and one brother Dennis Hilderbrand of Wynoose, Illinois. Four grandchildren Courtney Gray and Shelby Cailteux of Clay City and Kennedy and Khloe Zimmerman of Flora, Illinois; two great grandchildren Carter and Corbin Gray of Clay City Illinois also survive.

    Preceding Barbara in death were her parents, one brother Jack Walker, and one grandchild Lexi Cailteux.

    A graveside service will be at 12:00 pm Monday, December 30, 2019, at Dillman Cemetery.at Sailor Springs, Illinois. Everyone attending is asked to go directly to the cemetery. There will be no visitation.

    Memorials may be given to Clay County Hospice and will be accepted at Hosselton-Meridith Funeral Home.

    Barbara married Zimmerman, Galen Max on 10 Jul 1964 in Flora, Clay County, Illinois.
