    Harold L. "Smokey" Padgett, 84, of Noble passed away on October 11, 2014 in Olney, IL.

    Smokey was born July 27, 1930 in Wayne County, IL, the son of Victor and Beatrice (Thomas) Padgett.

    He married Janet Prosser on December 29, 1982 in Noble.

    Smokey enjoyed camping, fishing, and bluegrass music. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. In his younger years he was a stock car driver at the White Squirrel Speedway in Olney. Smokey was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and a Lifetime Member of the VFW. He was a member of North Freedom Baptist Church.

    He is survived by his wife, Janet Padgett of Noble; daughters, Debra Hoffner and husband John of West Salem, IL, Penny Runyon and husband Mike of Pace, FL, Rebecca Bell and husband Jim of Sumner, IL, and Rita McCormack and husband Todd of Noble; sons, Leslie Padgett of Noble and Kevin Weiss and wife Beth of Noble; sisters, Joyce Murphy and husband Schuylar of Roosevelt, UT and Bonnie Long and husband Bob of Olney; brother, Jerry Padgett and wife Nancy of Claremont, IL; ten grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Buddy, and sister, Wanda Tomason.

    Harold married Houchin, Billie Jean on 29 Dec 1982.     Harold "Buddy" Padgett Jr. 35, of Noble, died 7:06 a.m Friday, Sept. 13, 1991, at the Baby Ruth Ball Diamond, Olney City Park, Olney.

    Funeral services were Monday in the Chapel of Summers-Kistler Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Runyon officiating.

    Burial in Greenhill Cemetery, rural Noble.

    Full military rites will be performed by the Olney Veterans Organizations.

    Mr. Padgett was born Sept. 13, 1956 in Olney, the son of Harold "Smokey" and Billie Jean (Houchin) Padgett, Sr. He married Paula Hardin, Aug. 16, 1991

    Mr. Padgett was a member of the American Legion. He was a U. S. Army veteran.

    Mr. Padgett is survived by his wife, Paula; one brother, Leslie V. Padgett and wife, Cindy of Olney; one step-brothers, Kevin Weiss of Olney: three sisters, Mrs. Michael (Rebecca) Wilson of Noble, Mrs. Don (Debra) Phillips of Evansville, Ind., and Mrs. Michael (Penny) Runyon of Cornelius, Ore.; one step-sister, Rita Weiss of Noble; father and step-mother, Harold "Smokey" and Janet Padgett, Sr. of Noble; grandmothers, Beatrice Padgett and Emma Houchin Peters, and several nieces and nephews.

    Mr. Padgett was preceded in death by his mother and two grandfathers.

    Leslie Padgett, 60 of Albion passed away at 2:15 AM on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Helia Healthcare in Olney.

    There are no services being planned at this time. Cremation rites will be accorded.

    He was born on July 16, 1961 in Hammond, Indiana the son of Harold and Billie Jean (Houchin) Padgett.

    Leslie worked in the oil fields for many years. He enjoyed riding his Harley and going fishing.

    He is survived by his 3 sisters Debbie Hoffner (John) of Albion, Penny Runyon (Mike) of Florida, and Becky Bell (Jim) of Sumner; and several nieces and nephews.

    Leslie is preceded in death by his parents Harold and Billie Jean Padgett, brother Buddy Padgett, and grandparents Victor and Beatrice Padgett and Leslie and Emma Houchin.
