    Dorothea L. Pringle, 99, of Clay City, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2022 in Olney, Illinois.



    Dorothea was born on August 7, 1923 in Noble, Illinois, the daughter of Elza L. and Grace L. (Brown) Lutz. She married Charles B. Pringle on June 2, 1941 in Lebanon, MO, and he preceded her in death on April 7, 1978.



    Dorothea was very active in the Clay City United Methodist Church, where she was a long-time member. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, and spending time with her family.



    Dorothea is survived by her son, Bennie Pringle and his wife, Sandy, of Edwardsville, IL; Daughter, Sharon Lyerla of Palmetto, FL; Four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.



    She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters Evelyn Lutz, Wilma Lybarger, Ninetta Wilson, Berneta Weiler and Lorene Mayden; Son-in-law, T. W. Lyerla; Grandson, Andrew Lyerla.



    A funeral service will be held for Dorthea at Clay City United Methodist Church on 11:00 AM on Monday, December 12, 2022, with a visitation beginning one hour prior at the church.



    Interment will follow the service at Clay City Cemetery.



    Memorials can be made to Clay City United Methodist Church.

    She married Alfred Joseph Lybarger on November 14, 1944 in Tuscola, IL. He preceded her in death on January 27, 2013.

    Wilma was a homemaker and a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin.

    She is survived by her son, Robert Lybarger of Salem, IL; son, Myron Lybarger and wife, Joyce of Dundas, IL; son, John Lybarger and wife, Diann of Saint Marie, IL; daughter, Linda Kocher and husband, Keith of Claremont, IL; son, David Lybarger and wife, Cindy of Nashville, TN; daughter, Louise Lybarger and partner, Louis Gassmann of Newton, IL; son, Paul Lybarger and wife, Elizabeth of Wendelin, IL; sisters, Dorothea Pringle of Clay City, IL; Berneta Weiler of Clay City, IL and Lorene Mayden of Godfrey, IL; 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren as well as several nieces & nephews.

    Berneta Emma (Lutz) Weiler, age 90, of Clay City, Illinois, passed away Friday morning, December 7, 2018, at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.

    She was born March 25, 1928, in rural Clay County, the daughter of Elza and Grace (Brown) Lutz. She was united in marriage to William "Bill" E. Weiler on December 7, 1946, and they shared 64 years of marriage prior to his death September 28, 2011.

    Berneta was employed in the Clay City Grade School cafeteria for over 20 years. She was a member of Clay City United Methodist Church. A devoted wife, mother, and adoring grandmother, she lovingly put her family first and will always be remembered for her delicious home cooked meals and the enjoyment and pride she took in caring for her garden and flower beds.

    Berneta is survived by three sons: Alan (Doris) Weiler of Maiden, NC, Chris Weiler of Clay City, and Mark (Joyce) Weiler of Clay City; daughter-in-law: Ruth Ann Weiler of Clay City; grandchildren: Shari Weiler (Kevin) Ezell, Chad (Jessie) Weiler, Angela (Dusty) Noden, Amanda (Dave) Wilson, Layton Weiler, Jesteen (Jonathon) Billingsley, Joe (Rachel) Bruner, and Sarah Weiler; great-grandchildren: Kathryn, Alexandra, Kira, Chase, Elliott, Noelle, Norah, Zaiden, Azaira, Reagan, Ava, Rylan, Kamden, Knox, and Lilian; two sisters: Dorothea (the late Charles) Pringle of Clay City, and Lorene (Frank) Mayden of Godfrey; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son: Doug Weiler; a granddaughter: Andrea Weiler; and three sisters: Wilma (Alfred) Lybarger, Ninetta (Gerald) Wilson, and Evelyn Lutz.

    A funeral ceremony will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. A private burial will take place at Clay City Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 until 7 p.m. Monday evening and 1 until 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

    Memorial donations are suggested to Gift of Hope.

    Grace Lorene Mayden, 89, of Godfrey, IL, passed away at 7:42 a.m. Tues. Dec. 21, 2021 at her home while under hospice care surrounded by her family.

    She was born Oct 17, 1932 in Clay City, IL to the late Warren & Vera (Brown) Lutz.

    Grace’s life was especially blessed with family and by being married to her husband, Frank Lee Mayden for over 67 years before his death Dec. 26, 2019. They married on March 2, 1952 in Clay City. Surviving are their five sons, Donald (Lynn) Mayden of Alhambra, Illinois, Richard L. (Michelle) Mayden of Ballwin, Missouri, Charles (Chris) Mayden of Alton, Illinois, Michael (Darlene) Mayden of O’Fallon, Illinois, and Patrick (Michelle) Mayden of Alton; nine grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister: Dorothea Pringle of Clay City, IL.

    She had been a long time member of Main St. United Methodist Church.

    In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 5 sisters: Evelyn Lutz, Wilma Lybarger, Ninetta Wilson, Berneta Weiler and Norene Nettleton.

    Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. Mon. Dec. 27, 2021 at Paynic Home for Funerals. Burial will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

    John graduated from Clay City High School in 1966. In 1968, John was drafted in the United States Army serving during Vietnam. He received the Bronze Star for heroic service during combat. After his service in the Army, John continued to serve his country in the Army National Guard serving a total of 27 years.

    John was a lifelong farmer and carpenter. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ste. Marie; Ste. Marie American Legion Post #932 and currently served as Commander.

    John was very active in his community and always willing to volunteer his time. Most recently helping with the annual Cork and Pork festival, St. Mary’s Church picnic and the Ste. Marie Foundation house and activities.

    John enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working and spending time with family.

    John is survived by: wife of 50 years – Diann Lybarger of Ste. Marie, Illinois.

    In 1968, John was drafted in the United States Army serving during Vietnam. He received the Bronze Star for heroic service during combat. After his service in the Army, John continued to serve his country in the Army National Guard serving a total of 27 years.
