    Notes:

    Carol Ina Brown, 46, 801 North Ave., was found dead at her home Friday morning July 23, 1982, apparently of natural causes.

    Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Summers Funeral Home with Revs. Lowell McDowell and Bill Rennels presiding.

    Burial is in Greenhill Cemetery.

    She was born in Minonk, Nov. 28, 1935 to Everett Vernon and Inez (Fulk) Burgin. She married Hugh LeRoy Brown Sept. 27, 1961. He preceded her in death on May 10, 1973. She was a dietician at the Burgin Nursing Home.

    She is survived by four sons, Kevin, Korea; William, John and Christie, all of Olney; two brothers, Warren and Gary Burgin, both of Olney; four sisters, Una Tarpley, Alice Coldwell and Diana Beasley, all of Olney, and Mary Hendricks, Cisne; a step-sister, Marjorie York, Peoria; mother and step-father, Inez and Doyle McKinney, Olney; a grandson, financee, Don Ellis, Flora; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

    She was preceded in death by a brother, Everett Jr.

    Una was the assistant administrator of Burgin Manor for 56 years. She loved gardening and flowers, taking care of the elderly, and spending time with family and taking pictures. She always loved the annual family fish fry. Una oversaw the Golden Friendship Club. She was loved by all that knew her.

    Alice had worked as an activity director at Burgin Manor and later she was the Aspire Program director and involved with the Golden Friendship Club. She had worked around senior citizens since she was young after her parents established Burgin MManor, she really loved helping and putting smiles on peoples faces. Alice entertained the residents with her music and singing. Alice took pleasure in her flowers and gardening. She enjoyed fishing with Bob on Borah Lake. In the evenings Bob and her would be found on the couch with their dog Sheba watching TV. Alice loved time with her family and she will be sorely missed by many.

    Gary W. Burgin, 73, of Olney, Illinois, passed away on Monday, September 6, 2021 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital.

    Gary was born on July 10, 1948 in Richland County, IL, the son of John Everett & Inez (Fulk) Burgin. He married Rita "Kaye" Coonce on June 2, 1967 in Oblong, IL.

    Gary was a meat cutter for over 40 years in the local area. He also bought fur and roots with the Burgin Fur Company for over 20 years. Gary was an avid fishermen and hunter who loved the outdoors. Gary also loved going to auctions and antiquing. He had a strong faith and read his Bible daily. Gary was a great family man and enjoyed time with his children and grandchildren.

    Gary is survived by wife, Kaye Burgin of Olney; daughter, Michelle Alumbaugh and husband Matt of Olney; son, Matt Burgin and wife Kelly of Springfield, IL; grandchildren, Nicholas and Lucas Alumbaugh, Mason, Mitchell, Maya, and Molly Burgin; sister, Diana Burgin of Lawrenceville; and several nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by parents; sisters, Mary Burgin, Carol Brown, Una Tarpley, and Alice Brooks; brothers, Little Everett Burgin, Jr and Warren Burgin.

    A Funeral Service for Gary will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, September 10, 2021 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney, with a visitation beginning one-hour prior.

    Private family interment will take place at a later date at Haven Hill Memorial Gardens.

    Memorials can be made to American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
