    Ruth Laura CAILTEUX, 85, of Clay City, died at 5:13 p.m., Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Ind.

    Mrs. CAILTEUX was born May 10, 1921 in Clay City, the daughter of Raymond "Bob" and Ethel Eileene (RODGERS) ABBOTT. She married William H. CAILTEUX on Sept. 22, 1940 in Noble. He preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 1996. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Clay City Church of God.

    Survivors include one sister, Katie BROWN of Aurora; one brother, William ABBOTT of Elgin; two uncles, Roy RODGERS of Olney, and Harold ABBOTT of Clay City; one aunt, Lorena Dehart of Clay City; and several nieces and nephews.

    Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, and two brothers, Lloyd and Albert.

    Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Clay City, with Pastor Rob BOWKER and the Rev. John SPEARS officiating. Burial will be in the Clay City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday (tonight) at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Clay City Church of God.

    Entered active service as a draftee on March 4, 1943 at Chicago, Illinois. Selected for the Corps of Engineers, completed basic training and assigned to the 523rd Engineering Maintenance Company, Fort Bowie, Texas. Honorably discharged as a Private on December 9, 1944 in fair health at the Separation Center, Fort Sheridan, Illinois. Earned the American Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.

    Albert George Abbott, 60, died Monday, July 13, 1987, at his home in Clay City.

    Services will be held at the Forrest Ridge Chruch with Rev. Havard Dasch presiding. Burial will be in Forrest Ridge Cemetery.

    Mr. Abbott was born Sept. 9, 1926, in Richland County, the son of Emery Raymond and Ethel (Rodgers) Abbott. He married Clara Hille on Aug. 1, 1953, in Olney.

    He was a self-employed water well driller and a Korean War U. S. Army veteran. He was a member of Forrest Ridge Church and VFW.

    Survivors include his wife, Clara; three daughters, Mrs. Danny (Barbara) Hartleroad of Noble, Mrs. Danny (Ethel) Welty of Clay City and Mrs. Douglas (Violet) Brinkley of Waukomis, OK; two brothers, Lloyd Aabbott of Clay City and William Abbott of Elgin; two sisters, Mrs. William (Ruth) Calteux and Mrs. Ralph (Katie) Brown, both of Clay City; six grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by his parents.

    Military Service:
    Entered active service as a draftee on August 3, 1945 at Chicago, Illinois. Selected for the Field Artillery, completed basic training and qualified in the military occupational specialty of Guard Patrolman (522). Departed the U.S. on February 5, 1946 bound for the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations. Assigned to and served with the 49th Field Artillery Battalion engaged in the occupation of the Japanese homelands. Earned the WWII Victory Medal and the Army Of Occupation Medal (Japan). Honorably discharged as a Private First Class on January 30, 1947 at the Separation Center, Camp Beale, California.
