Robert was born June 2, 1921 in Clay County, IL to Floyd & Nellie (Greenwood) Hockman. He married Margaret Slover on February 10, 1954 in Flora. She preceded him in death on April 15, 2000.

Bob worked for the Flora School District, served in the U.S. Army during WWII, enjoyed gardening, and was a member of the First Christian Church in Flora and the Flora American Legion Post #14.

He is survived by his son: Jerry Hockman & wife Vicki of Schertz, TX; 3 grandchildren: Tania Fey & husband Justin of New Braunfels, TX, Dana Frankland of Selma, TX, and Dawn Cousino of San Antonio, TX; 3 great-grandchildren: Austin, Alyssa & Tristan; special friend: Marge Burnett of Flora; 3 sisters: Martha Nell Rebmann of Zion, Betty Blackwell of Ravenna, OH, and Virginia Garver & husband Lester of Elderburg, MD; 2 brothers: Sonny Hockman & wife Esther of Flora and Everett Hockman of Flora; along with several nieces and nephews.
