    Entered active service as a draftee on January 3, 1946 at Chicago, Illinois. Selected for the Army Air Forces, completed basic training, qualified in the military occupational specialty of Basic Soldier (521), and was stationed at Chanute Field, Illinois for further training. Developed a medical condition and transferred to the 3502nd Army Air Force Base Unit's Detachment for patients from which he was discharged with a Certificate of Disability as a Private on February 9, 1947.
