Earnest, only son of David & Hannah Chaney was born in Rinard,Sept. 14, 1880.

His mother passed when he was ten. He was cared for by a step-mother.

He married Gladys Ray Henson, Oct. 24, 1917, they had one son.

He leaves his wife, a little son, his father & step-mother, four half-brothers, Theron, Owen, Leslie, & Fay.

Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora, IL.

Family/Spouse: Henson, Gladys Rae. Gladys was born on 17 Jun 1893; died on 9 Aug 1990; was buried in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Xenia, Clay County, Illinois.

Children: 2. Chaney, John David   was born in 1925 in Wayne County, Illinois; died on 19 Jun 1944; was buried in Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii.

Seaman First Class. Was killed in action on 19 June 1944 in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations. Awarded The Purple Heart Medal and otherwise entitled to The American Campaign Medal, The Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and The WWII Victory Medal. Memorialized at Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Hawaii. Honored also at the WWII Memorial at Flora, Illinois.
