Notes:

Mrs. Phebe Elizabeth Gerber, age 67, the widow of David Gerber of German township, died last Thursday at the Summers Clinic. She was a life-long resident of Richland County.

She is survived by the following children: Mrs. Elva Woods of Sumner, Clarence Gerber of Olney, Mrs. Lottie Griesemer of Sumner, Roy Gerber of Stockton, CA, Raymond Gerber of Gary, IN., Mrs. Edna Level of Sumner, Lester Gerber of Olney, Robert Gerber of Claremont, Carl Gerber of Olney and Miss Catherine Gerber of Claremont.

Also surviving are two brothers, Robert Sager of Olney and John Sager of Mirando, CA, and one sister, Mrs. Clara Roth of Olney.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the St. James Lutheran church with Rev. Fred Heckathorn in charge and burial was in the Goss cemetery, under the direction of the Summers Funeral Home.

Notes:

Lucy Etta Boatman, nee Sager, daughter of Reuben and Catherine Sager, was born July 22, 1883, and departed this life October 27, 1925, at the age of 42 years, 3 months and 5 days. In infancy she was presented to the Lord in Holy Baptism.

On October 27, 1907, she was united in marriage to Milton L. Boatman. To this union nine children were born, Elsie, Neva, Harry, Mary, Daisy, Bernice, Ralph and little Opal Maxine. One son, Claude, died in infancy.

She leaves to mourn her departure her aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Sager, of Olney; two brothers, John, of Neeleyville, Mo., and Robert, of Olney; also two sisters, Mrs. Phoebe Gerber and Mrs. Clara Roth, of German township, besides a large number of relatives and friends.

Her sickness lasted about two weeks. She bore her sufferings patiently, but all that loving hands could do was of no avail and on Tuesday morning, October 27, the soul of the exhausted sufferer took its flight and she closed her eyes to earthly scenes and entered into her eternal home.

You bade no one a last farewell,
And good-bye to no one.
Your loving heart had ceased to beat,
Before we knew that you were gone.

We never thought that on that day
Our dear mother would be called away;
For all of us you did your best
Until the angels took you home to rest.

In silence you suffered,
With patience you bore,
'Till God called you home
To suffer no more.

Funeral services were held in St. James Lutheran church, near Claremont. Burial in Goss cemetery. Rev. Wm. Boatman, of Murphysboro, 111., conducted the services.

Robert Sager 86, passed away yesterday at the home of his son, at 802 South Camp.

He is survived by son, Carl Sager of Olney, and one grandchild.

His wife, Ida Seesengood Sager, preceded him in death.

He was a veteran of WWI. Military graveside services will be held by the veterans organizations of Olney.

Funeral services will be in the Memorial Chapel of the Summers-Marshall Funeral Home, with Rev. Arthur Ritchey officiating. Interment will be in the Haven Hill Cemetery.

Notes:

Mrs. Clara A. Roth, age 77, a former resident of the Stringtown community and later a resident of 126 E. Butler St., passed away early this morning at Richland Memorial Hospital, following a lengthy illness.

A native of Richland County, Mrs. Roth was the daughter of Reuben Sager and Catherine Smith Sager.

She was married to Anthony J. Roth in Olney on July 24, 1911.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Church at Stringtown and attended St. Joseph's Church in Olney while a resident here.

She was a fifty-year member of the Christian Mothers Organization. She was also a member of Chapter No. 407 of the Women of the Moose.

She leaves her husband and five children: Lawrence Roth, Mrs. Boniface (Bernice) Ochs and Mrs. Kenneth (Rosemary) Stangle Sr. all of Olney, Ernest Roth and Elva Roth both of Hammond, Indiana. There are 21 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. She also leaves a brother, Robert Sager of Olney.

She was preceded in death by her parents and infant daughter, three sisters and two brothers.
