Timothy Warren of Clarksdale Dies Sunday
Funeral Services to be held Wednesday Afternoon

Timothy Warren, 82, retired farmer of Clarksdale, died Sunday afternoon in the state hospital at Jacksonville.

Mr. Warren was born September 20, 1862, in Clay County, Illinois, the son of Lem (Fleming) and Frances Songer Warren.

Surviving are his wife, Lula Marie; five daughters, Mabel of Lincoln; Mrs. Pearl Thompson, Atwood; Mrs. Irene Winchester, Taylorville; Myrtle and Lucille at home; and three sons, Elmer Leroy, at home; Cpl. Kenneth Warren, who is in the Hawaiian Islands and Pvt. Dale Warren, who is serving overseas.

He was a member of the Clarksdale Methodist Church. The body was removed to the Joe Shafer Funeral Home where it will remain until the hour of the services. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o’clock Wednesday afternoon in the Clarksdale Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Anderson Cemetery north of Clarksdale.

He married Lucy Ellen McConnell on 31 Dec 1890.

They had 14 Children, William "Bill", Benjamin "Ben", Lucretia "Gladys", Robert "Baker", Lucy "Bea", John, Lora, Charles "Doc", Ralph died in infancy, Helen, Theodore "Ted", Lowell "Gene", Ada, and Russell "Bud".

All children are linked, except Ralph who died at birth.

After Lucy died Grandpa married Flossie McConnell who was Lucy's first cousin, the daughter of Lucy's Uncle Thomas and Aunt Ella Jane Clark McConnell. They were both very advanced in years.

Notes for Robert Baker Warren by Robert M. Decker:

Robert Baker Warren, who was always referred to as Baker, was a messenger in an Infantry Division of the U.S. Army during WWI. He was killed in the line of duty in Argonne, France 11 Nov 1918, the very day the Armistice was signed. He dove into a shell hole to excape a bombardment, but was hit by an incoming shell. Ironically, Robert was hospitalized earlier in 1918 for exposure to mustard gas and was offered the opportunity to go home, but he refused. This information was passed to Robert's sister, Lucy Beatrice Warren, in a letter from a young man who served with Baker. Robert M. Decker wrote (20 Aug 1999) that he believed Baker Warren was in Company F., but wasn't sure of the Regiment.

The government paid a monthly pension to Baker's mother, Lucy McConnell Warren, until her death May 31, 1936. Subsequent to her death, a final payment of $1,602 was made to be divided among all living heirs of Baker Warren. Alfred Galen (always known as Galen) Warren married Ruby Lee on 25 Mar 1947 in a double ceremony with his brother Robert Calvin Warren and Doris Jean Xanders.
Galen had 4 boys and served as a Baptist Minister in Southern Illinois. He came from a family of 9 children who survived to adulthood. 5 boys and 4 girls. Parents were William Curtis Warren and Anna Emelia Forfang. He was the first of his siblings to pass away.

Military Service:
Entered active service on January 12, 1944. Completed boot camp at Naval Training Station, Farragut, Idaho. Assigned to and served, in turn, with Torpedo Squadron 28 and Carrier Service Unit 6 in the Pacific Theater of Operations. Honorably discharged as a Aviation Radioman Third Class on June 2, 1946 at the Naval Personnel Separation Center, Camp Shoemaker, California. Earned the American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.

He is also survived by five children, Michael and wife Linda of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Mark and wife Terri of Champaign; Dwight and wife Barb of Forest Park; Danita and husband Bill Heilenbach of Western Springs and Eric and wife Christine of Downs; seventeen grandchildren; a brother, Dan Powell of Flora and a sister, Karen Sue Pearson of Splendora, Texas.

He served in the US Army in the 81st Calvary Reconnaissance Mechanized Squadron, First Armored Division. He served in the Tunisian campaign in North Africa, including the battle of Kasserine Pass. He served in the Italian campaign, including Naples, Rome, Arno, the North Apennines and Po Valley.
