    Ronald R. Levitt, age 87, of Flora, IL died at 12:53 PM Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at his home in Flora.

    Ron was born March 5, 1925 in Sailor Springs, IL to Frank & Caddie Levitt. He married Onita J. Hill on July 31, 1945 in Clay City, IL.

    He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1945 and was involved in many WWII actions.

    Ron owned and operated many gas stations over the years in Flora. He was a longtime and dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Flora being a member of the Men's Sunday school class and later the Friend's class, served as chairman of the last pulpit committee, and served on the Board of Trustees, having later been made Honorary Trustee.

    Ron was a charter board member of CCR (Clay County Rehabilitation Center) and was involved with CCR for 36 years.

    For the past 20 years, he and Onita have enjoyed spending part of each year in Florida.

    He is survived by his wife: daughter: Sandra Mann; son: Donald W. Levitt; 4 grandchildren: Wendy Siefert, Gary R. Mann, Melinda Null, Casey Levitt; 6 great-grandchildren; and special nephew: Mike Gray.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, and 7 sisters.

    The funeral service for Ron Levitt will be held at 11 AM Friday, March 9, 2012 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora, with Pastor Jay Keele officiating.

    Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora, with military honors.

    Memorials may be made to CCR or First Baptist Church.

    Military Service:
    Honorably discharged as a Seaman First Class on October 6, 1945 at the Naval Personnel Separation Center, Great Lakes, Illinois. Earned the WWII Victory Medal for his service during the period of eligibility.
