    Mrs. Sara J. Stanford, 80, of Flora, IL passed away on February 21, 2012 at 7:10a.m. at her residence in Flora.

    Sara was born in Sparta, IL on May 15, 1931. On March 4, 1951 she married Harold L. Stanford. He preceded her in death on December 31, 2008.

    Sara was a homemaker and farm wife, and also worked for JCPenny in Flora for several years. After her employment with JCPenny she chose to stay home and take care of her grandchildren. Sara was also a very active member of Harmony United Methodist Church in Flora.

    Sara is survived by 2 sons: Stan and Jerry Stanford: 5 grandchildren; Cora Taylor, Lucas Stanford, Jeremy Stanford, Chris Stanford and Mandy Stanford: 15 great-grandchildren Callen Robert, Taylor, Abigale, Emma, Christina, Courtney, Chelsey, Daniel, Dylan, Denver, Carley, Rosalynn Stanford, Andrew Wade, Brielle and Taralyn Taylor.

    Services were held at Byrd & Kohn Funeral Home in Flora, IL with interment immediately following at Kneff Cemetery, in Flora, IL.

    Expressions of sympathy should take the form of donations to Harmony United Methodist Church and may be received at the funeral home.

    Sara married Stanford, Harold Leroy on 4 Mar 1951. Harold (son of Stanford, Eugene Dickson and Blackledge, Ella Cleone) was born on 23 Nov 1918 in Flora, Clay County, Illinois; died on 30 Dec 2007 in Flora Healthcare Center, Flora, Clay County, Illinois; was buried on 1 Jan 2008 in Kneff Cemetery, Clay City, Clay County, Illinois.
