    Norma Abbott, 93, of Flora, formerly of Sailor Springs, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Clay County Hospital in Flora.

    Norma was born on December 2, 1922 in Sailor Springs, the daughter of Baldy and Josephine (Noll) Franklin. She married Harold Abbott on December 20, 1943. He preceded her in death on March 12, 2013.

    Norma was a full fledged homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a lifetime member of the Sailor Springs Women's American Legion Auxiliary. Norma worked at the Sailor Springs grade school as a cook and at the garment factory in Clay City. Norma especially enjoyed her grandchildren.

    She is survived by her son, Steve (Carolyn) Abbott of Paris, IL; Son, James (Carol) Abbott of Mitchell, IN; Grandchildren, Ashley (Richard) Banks of Rogers, AR; Westley (Colleen) Abbott of Rogers, AR; Tony Burton, Olney, IL; and Christina Biggers of Morganfield, KY; and Great Grandchildren, Tate Abbott, Reese Abbott, Ripley Abbott, and Henry Banks.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, William Franklin, Malbert Eugene Franklin, Orris C. Franklin, Roy C. Franklin, and James Nolan Franklin, and sisters, Bernice L. Bridges, Alberta E. Anderson, and Hazel C. Hills.

    Notes:

    He was employed at Hoffmans in Orleans from 1966 until the company moved to northern Illinois in 1970. He then went to work at Hubbard TV in Bedford until going to Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Detachment, as an electronic technician working in sonar bouys until retiring in 2015.

    Jim graduated from Clay City High School, Illinois, in 1963 and electronics school in Louisville, Kentucky in 1965. He was a train enthusiast and traveled around the country with Carol photographing trains. Jim also enjoyed gardening. Jim was a member of Bedford Masonic Lodge No. 14 F. & A. M., a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Sahara Grotto Valley of Indianapolis. He attended Spice Valley Baptist Church.

    Funeral:
    Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 20, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center, with Pastor Val Foughty-Killion officiating.

    Harold James "Jim" Abbott, 72, passed away Monday, April 16, 2018, at his residence.

    Buried:
    Entombment will be in the mausoleum at Cresthaven Memory Gardens.
