Assigned to and served with the 81st Quartermaster Company, 81st 'Wildcat' Infantry Division, engaged in the Southern Philippines Campaign. After victory in Japan, the 81st Division performed occupation duties in the Aomori prefecture of the conquered nation. Honorably discharged as a Technical Sergeant on February 9, 1946 at the Separation Center, Jefferson Barracks, Missouri. Earned the Meritorious Unit Plaque, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 1 bronze battle star, WWII Victory Medal, Army Of Occupation Medal (Japan), and The Philippine Liberation Medal with 1 bronze battle star.

    Notes:

    Betty Jeanne Eastin was born April 4, 1931 to Delbert and Juanita Hilderbrand. She grew up in Clay City Illinois. She was a single Mom to three children, Jerry Snell, Linda Snell, and Paul David Snell when she met the love of her life, Richard Eastin. On June 5, 1953, she and Richard married. From this beautiful union two girls were born, Sharon Ashlock and Connie Thomas. In 1959 they moved their family to Oklahoma.
    Betty loved being a member of the Moose Lodge and helping with Special Olympics. She enjoyed spending weekends with her grandchildren at the lake or just enjoying a cookout. She also enjoyed crosswords puzzles, anything outside including gardening. Betty worked at Love's Country Store for many years before retiring. Betty passed peacefully in Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 90.
    She is preceded in death by her Father Delbert Hilderbrand, Mother Juanita Hilderbrand, Husband Richard Eastin, infant son Paul David Snell, daughters Linda Snell, and Connie Thomas, and son Jerry Snell. Her brothers, Tom Hilderbrand, Jerry Hilderbrand, and Ron Hilderbrand. Her son in Law Vernon Ashlock, daughter in law Terri Snell and great-grandchildren Garrett Rice and Alyssa Moffitt.

    Mr. Gerald A. "Jerry" Hilderbrand, 81, of Louisville, Illinois, died at 2:40 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at his home.

    Jerry was born on July 20, 1932, to Delbert and Beulah Juanita (Lister) Hilderbrand. On December 17, 1953, Jerry married Floretta "Fran" Vail at Trinity Methodist Church in Flora.

    Jerry worked at the Flora Shoe Factory and several other local businesses, and he later worked in the feed mill at Effingham – Clay FS in Louisville.

    Jerry proudly chose to honor his country by serving in the United States Army.

    He was a member of Bloom Baptist Church in Flora and the Louisville American Legion Post #914, and past member of the Flora Moose Lodge #1384, Flora Eagles Lodge #2494, and Flora V.F.W Post #3999.

    Jerry loved fishing, hunting, and finding mushrooms. He enjoyed listening to the Cardinals games and was the biggest fan of his grandkids' sporting events. Above all, Jerry loved spending time with his family, friends, and two beloved dogs, Buddy and Pretty Girl.

    Jerry is survived by his wife, Fran; mother, Juanita Hilderbrand; children, Debbie Goodman and husband Matt, Darel Hilderbrand and wife Misty, Kenny Hilderbrand and wife Barb, Wayne Hilderbrand and wife Tammy, Phil Hilderbrand and wife Wanda; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a sister, Betty Eastin;and brothers, Ronnie Hilderbrand and Tom Hilderbrand.

    Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Delbert Hilderbrand, son, Frank Lynn Hilderbrand, and brother-in-law, Richard Eastin.

    Funeral services will be Saturday, June 14, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Kohn Funeral Home in Flora, IL.

    Visitation will be held Friday, June 13, 2014, from 6 – 8 p.m. at Kohn Funeral Home.

    Interment will follow at Clay City Cemetery in Clay City, IL, with military honors.

    Expressions of sympathy should take the form of donations to Clay County Animal Rescue and Shelter (CCARS).

    Ronnie R. Hilderbrand, 75, of Sailor Springs, Illinois, passed away at 1:04 a.m., Saturday, October 12, 2019, surrounded by family at his home.

    Ronnie was born in Olney, Illinois, on December 30, 1943, to Delbert and Juanita (Sparling) Hilderbrand. He married Ruth (Atchason) Hilderbrand on January 3, 1964, at the Sailor Springs Christian Church Parsonage.

    Ronnie worked as a roustabout in the oil fields and later as a farm hand for Laughton Farms. He was a member of the Sailor Springs Christian Church. He was a member of the Sailor Springs Ruritan for many years, where he was the “head chowder maker”. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping. He also liked to garden and tinker in the garage. Most of all, he loved his family.

    Ronnie is survived by his wife, Ruth Hilderbrand of Sailor Springs, IL; children, Ronnie Hilderbrand, Jr. and special friend Kitty of Clay City, IL, Angie Spitzner and husband Bill of Clay City, IL, Gary Hilderbrand and wife Connie of Olney, IL, Troy Hilderbrand and wife Stacy of Rinard, IL, and Charlie Hilderbrand and special friend, Molly of Sailor Springs, IL; grandchildren, James Hilderbrand and wife Amber of California, Jacob Oates and wife Elizabeth of Louisville, IL, Caden Hilderbrand of Clay City, IL, Ray Sullens of Rinard, IL, Tyler Sullens and special friend Paige of Louisville, IL, Brody Hilderbrand of Sailor Springs, IL, Ali Hilderbrand of Clay City, IL, and Cooper Hilderbrand of Clay City, IL; step-grandchildren, Hanna Spitzner of Bible Grove, IL, Malachi Spitzner of Clay City, IL, Brandy Lane of Olney, IL, and Bridgett Sloan of Olney, IL; great-grandchildren, Vincent, Caden, Carrson, Ava, and Isabella; step-great-grandchildren, Kayli, Rory, Michael, Cody, Lacie, Madisson, Allison, Mariah, and Becca; step-great-great-grandchildren, Paige, Aaliyah, Brylie, Bentley, and Tenzley; and sister, Betty Eastin of Woodward, OK.
