    Ethel BENSKIN, 87, of Clay City, died at 10:52 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 26, 1991, at the Flora Nursing Center.

    Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, at the Hosselton, Bookhout, Engelmeier Funeral Home, Clay City. Burial will be in the Kneff Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.

    Mrs. BENSKIN was born on April 13, 1903, in Wayne County, the daughter of Lafayette and Nancy (KAUBLE) GILL. She married Orville BENSKIN in 1927. He died in 1983. She was a member of the Bethel Methodist Church, the Garden Club and Community Club.

    Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Joyce SCAMMAHORN, and Mrs. Marjorie MURBARGER, both of Clay City; four sisters, Mrs. Pearl GIBBS and Mrs. Clara Etta MIX, both of Clay City, Sylvia BRAINARD of Flora, and Vernetta MITCHELL of Cisne; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister and two brothers.

    Alva Joyce Benskin, age 89, of Clay City, Illinois, passed away Monday morning, February 28, 2017, at Flora Gardens Care Center in Flora.

    She was born November 10, 1927, in Clay County, the daughter of Orville and Ethel Grace (Gill) Benskin. Joyce was employed at several factories during her working years including Four Sisters Manufacturing in Flora, International Shoe Company in Olney, R.C. Allen Typewriter in Woodstock, and Sparton Manufacturing in Flora. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and the Senior Sunday School Class of the church.

    Joyce enjoyed bowling and cooking, and was known for her delicious fudge, divinity, and cinnamon rolls. She was known by all as an avid quilter. Also, she and her sister, Marjorie, made many bibs and lap throws for residents at nursing homes over the years.

    Joyce is survived by a son: Dale Stanford and wife Joan of Flora; a daughter: Colene Wood of Buffalo; a sister: Marjorie Murbarger of Clay City; five grandchildren: Bradley Alan Stanford, Crystal Lynn Lancaster, Amber Jo Stanford, Casey Jay Wood, Kassie Joetta Wood; and four great-grandchildren: Destinee, Wyatt, Peyton, and Harper.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; and one son: Bradley.

    A funeral service for Joyce Benskin will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 3, 2017, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora, with Pastor Jill Bunker officiating. Interment will be in Kneff Cemetery.

    Memorial contributions may be given to National Kidney Foundation or Alzheimer’s Association.

    Marjorie Faye Murbarger, age 88, of Clay City, Illinois, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2018. Marjorie had worked as a seamstress at the Genesco Garment Factory in Olney and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. She loved to quilt and had made quilts for all her children and grandchildren. Marjorie also did volunteer work, making and donating bibs for local nursing homes, and was known for her homemade angel food cakes and loved to dance.

    She is survived by her children: Parvin Murbarger (Carolyn) of Clay City, Deanna Benson (Dave) of Bolingbrook, Sharon David of Cisne, and Eunice Heusack (Mike) of St. Louis; six grandchildren: Anthony Rutt, Debra Fehrenbacher, Ryan Fehrenbacher, Aaron Williams, Amanda Dees, and Marty David; nine great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law: Retha Murbarger; and one brother-in-law: Neal Murbarger.

    Marjorie married Murbarger, Carroll David on 29 Sep 1950 in Fairfield, Wayne County, Illinois.     Dale Stanford, age 69, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at Clay County Hospital in Flora.

    Dale was born August 15, 1948, in Flora, the son of the late Roger Eugene Stanford and the late Alva Joyce Benskin. He married Joan Miller on September 4, 1983, in Clinton, New Jersey.

    He was a 1966 graduate of Clay City High School. Dale retired from the U.S. Army in 1974, having served in Vietnam and Germany.

    He earned certificates in heating and air for tractor trailer reefers and in diesel mechanics. He worked for himself, driving a truck for Stanford Transporters. Dale was a member of the American Legion, VFW, NMN Club, and Chapter 32 International Tractor Club. He attended McCabe General Baptist Church and was an expert at identifying country music songs.

    Dale was passionate about working on, showing, and talking about his tractors, including his M and H Farmall models, his Farmall Super A, and an International 806, as well as 3 Case tractors, and another he was hoping to begin restoring soon. He was also a collector of diecast toys, including trucks, tractors, and road equipment.

    He is survived by his wife: Joan Stanford; a sister: Colene Wood and her son, Casey Jay Wood and daughter, Kassie Joetta Wood and granddaughter Harper; the children of Dale’s late brother, Bradley Stanford: Bradley Allen Stanford, Crystal Lynn Lancaster, and Amber Jo Stanford; brother: Perry (Kathy) Stanford and his family; brother: Donald Stanford and his family; an aunt: Marjorie Murbarger and her family; sister-in-law: Kathleen Miller; brother-in-law: Edward (Susan) Miller and their sons Brian Miller and Craig (Paula) Miller, and their daughters Ashlyn and Addison; brother-in-law: Donald (Nancy) Miller and their daughter Christina Herndon; along with many cousins of Dale and Joan.

    He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother: Bradley.

    A funeral service for Dale Stanford will be held 11 a.m. Monday, December 4, 2017, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora, with military honors presented at the conclusion of the service. A visitation will be held Sunday afternoon from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home.

    Memorials may be given to Clay County Cancer Crusaders who will share the donations with Crossroads Cancer Center
