    Military Service:
    Entered active service as a draftee on 5 September 1942 at Scott Field, Illinois. Completed basic training qualified as a rifleman, military occupational specialty 745. Departed the Continental U.S. on 7 March 1945 bound for the European Theater of Operations. Assigned to and fought with Company C, 304th Infantry Regiment, 76th 'Onaway' Infantry Division, through the Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns. Wounded by enemy action on 13 April 1945 in vicinity of Hollsteitz, Saxony, Germany. Initially treated at the 107th Evacuation Hospital. Remained in the European theater until 29 January 1946. Earned The Purple Heart Medal, The Combat Infantryman Badge, The Good Conduct Medal, The American Campaign Medal, The European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 2 bronze battle stars and The WWII Victory Medal. Honorably discharged as a Corporal on 15 February 1946 at the Separation Center, Camp Grant, Illinois.
