    FARMER CITY - Paul Franklin, 85, of Farmer City died at 8:35 a.m. Tuesday (April 22, 1997) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Farmer City, the Rev. Lee Reed officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens Cemetery, rural Champaign. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, with a Knights of Pythias service at 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
    He is survived by his wife, Elsie; two daughters, Ranella Wills, Bloomington; and Elaine Duffner, Jonesboro, Arkansas; two sons, Lynn Franklin, Farmer City; and Leslie Franklin, Urbana; one brother, Woodrow Franklin, Marshfield, Moissouri; one sister, Genevieve Occhi, Cuba, Moissouri; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
    Mr. Franklin was born Sept. 5, 1911, in Sailor Springs, a son of Bary and Laura Rodgers Franklin. He married Elsie Tarter on Dec. 19, 1931, in DeLand.
    He was a retired farmer and a member of Weedman United Methodist Church, rural Farmer City. He also was a member of the Kenilworth Lodge 60 Knights of Pythias, Farmer City, and the DeWitt County Farm Bureau.

    James Franklin, 75, of Clay City, died Jan. 19, 1991 at Clay County Hospital in Flora, IL.

    He was born Aug. 23, 1915 in Sailor Springs, IL, the son of Bary and Laura Rodgers Franklin. He married Wanda Harrison on June 11, 1936 in Olney and she survives.

    Mr. Franklin was a farmer and oil producer. He was an elder in the Clay City Christian Church. He was a member of the Clay City Lion's Club, clay County Farm Bureau and Petroleum Club in Olney.

    In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Jack and Roger Franklin; three brothers, Henry, Paul, and Woodrow Franklin; two sisters, Iona Osborne and Geneveive Occhi; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

    Services were held at the Chapel of Hosselton Bookhout and Engelmeier Funeral Home in Clay City.

    Burial was in #4 Cemetery in Rural Clay City. (Sailor Springs area)

Assigned to and served with the 472nd Glider Field Artillery Battalion engaged in the occupation of Japan. Honorably discharged as a Technician Fifth Grade on April 23, 1947 at the Separation Center, Camp Beale, California. Earned the WWII Victory Medal and the Army Of Occupation Medal (Japan).
