    She is survived by two half-sisters, Mrs. Cleo Moseley of Clay City and Edith Bufkin of California.

    Lelan E. Hohlbauch, 69, Clay City, died at 9:45 a.m. Saturday in the Mattoon Memorial Hospital, . Mattoon.

    He was born April 13, 1906, in Clay City. He married Mildred Duke March 21, 1926, in Louisville.

    Hohlbauch is survived by his widow, Mildred; one son, Kenneth, Mattoon; one daughter, Mrs. Kathryn Kermicle, Mattoon; one brother, Charles, Clay City; one sister, Mrs. Irene Franklin, Clay City; and three grandchildren.

    He was a member of the Clay City United Methodist Church, past master of Clay City Masonic Lodge, past commander of the Clay City American Legion Post, a veteran of World War II, a township trustee, and director of the Clay City Savings and Loan.

    Services were conducted at the Cardascio-Easley Funeral Home in ClayCity. Burial was in the Clay City Cemetery. Masonic services were conducted.

    Military rites were conducted at graveside. Brother Doyle Keller officiated.

    Military Service:
    Enlisted and entered active service as an Apprentice Seaman on December 7, 1943. Completed boot camp at Naval Receiving Barracks, Shoemaker, California, and served aboard the Fast Minesweeper USS Hopkins DMS-13, running the ship's service stores. Earned the American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, and the WWII Victory Medal. Honorably discharged as a Seaman First Class on November 6, 1945 at the Naval Personnel Separation Center, Shoemaker, California.

    August M. Neeley, 90, of Flora, IL died at 6:55 PM Wednesday, January 28, 2009, at Clay County Hospital in Flora.

    He was born February 25, 1918 in Clay City, IL to Addison & Estella (Houghbaugh) Neeley. He married Erma McCommons on September 27, 1941 in St. Louis, MO.

    He worked as a lineman for Clay Electric for 37 years, retiring in 1983 and was a Bronze Star recepient having served during WWII in the U.S. Army. His memberships included the First Christian Church in Flora, the Minutemen Sunday School Class of the church, Flora VFW Post #3999, Flora American Legion Post #14, and Flora Moose Lodge. August enjoyed reading, fishing, and traveling.

    He is survived by his wife: Erma Neeley of Flora; children: Augie Neeley & wife Janet of Grayville, IL, and Janet McNeely & husband Ronnie of Louisville; 5 grandsons: Randy McNeely & wife Tara of Louisville, Troy McNeely & wife Mary Kay of Marshall, Bryan Neeley & wife Carmen of Jacksonville, Brent McNeely & wife Karen of Summerville, SC, and Marc Neeley & wife Maria of Grayville; 16 great-grandchildren: Taylor, Braden, Dalton, Madison, Katlyn, Alex, Kelsey, Kevin, Christian, Connor, Cole, Callie, Canyon, Nicholas, Kassidy, & Brock. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers (Ike & Bud Neeley), and 3 sisters (Thelma Lee, Isabelle Pourchot & Mary Kelly).

    Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Sunday, February 1, 2009 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home. Burial will be in Kneff Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Saturday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home.

    Memorials may be made to First Christian Church and will be received at the funeral home.

    Military Service:
    Entered service on February 25, 1943, as a postal clerk. He saw action with Company K, 114th Regiment, 44th Infantry Division through northern France, Rhineland and central Europe. Duties included delivering personal mail to fellow troops in their front line foxholes. Earned the Combat Infantryman Badge, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three bronze battle stars, Good Conduct Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. Was honorably discharged as a Technician Grade Five on November 3, 1945.
