    Notes:

    Mrs. Sybil E. Williams, 57, wife of Francis M. Williams, of 510 E. Monroe Street, Olney, was fatally injured in a two-car collision, Saturday evening about 5:45 , on a gravel road about 7 miles southeast of Clay City.

    Her husband is a senior store-keeper for the General Telephone Company.
    She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Olney.

    Besides her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Fern Kelly of Highland, Ind., Mrs. June Kelly of Chicago and Mrs. Johnsie Berger of Rt. 3 Noble; one brothers, Joe Wilson of Clay City and seven grandchildren.

    Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the Chapel of the Schaub Funeral Home, with Rev. Paul Ragsdale in charge. Interment was in Haven Hill Cemetery.

    Mrs. Williams husband, Francis Williams, was injured in the accident and is a patient at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney. His condition is described as improved at the hospital today.
    The second car involved in the crash was driven by James D. Hough, 16, of near Noble, and was occupied by his brother, Glenn Hough, 18. Both were admitted as patients at Richland Memorial Hospital, but both have now been released from the hospital after treatment and observation.

    Joe served in Europe with the U.S. Army during World War II, rising to the rank of Sergeant.

    He died of a heart attack in Clay City, Illinois, shortly after parking his truck to check on the mail.
    He was a retired pumper for Pure Oil Co., and a member of the Clay City Methodist Church.

    Military Service:
    Entered active service as a draftee on September 29, 1943 at Camp Grant, Illinois. Completed basic training, qualified in the military occupational specialty of Rifleman (745) and later as Machine Gun Non-Commissioned Officer (604). Departed the Continental U.S. on March 12, 1944 bound for the European Theater of Operations. Assigned to and fought with company H, 141st Infantry Regiment, 36th 'Texas' Infantry Division in the Rome-Arno, Southern France, Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns. Wounded by enemy action on August 24, 1945 in vicinity of Crest, France. Earned the Purple Heart Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 4 bronze battle stars and bronze arrowhead (assault landing) and the WWII Victory Medal. Honorably discharged as a Sergeant on November 1, 1945 at the Separation Center, Fort Sheridan, Illinois.

    According to his wife, Edna, he died at Clay City while checking the mail. According to his obituary, he died at the Clay County Hospital.
