I served in HHC 8th Eng 3rd platoon Vietnam June 27 1970 - Apr 2 1971. Probably most exciting , learning, developing time in my life. I was a backhoe and dozer operater . Johnstone, Batalion commander. As I remember he was a great person. I managed to break an oil pan on a D5 Dozer. He was very calm as I explained the problem. We worked out a solution . He and I left Vietnam on the same plane. He was concerned about lack of ribbons on my uniform, looked at my orders, helped me get what t needed . He loaned me $20 . This was in Dekota Japan. I would like to know more about he and the other good people I served with 8th Engineer Battalion "Trojan Horse" Armed Forces
