    Lubert D. Hagen, 77, of Effingham, died at 1:15 a.m., Friday, June 18, 2004 at West Salem Manor in West Salem.

    Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 23, 2004 at Neal Funeral Home in Louisville.

    Burial will follow at Orchard Hill Cemetery in Louisville.

    Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 22, 2004 at the funeral home.

    Mr. Hagen was born August 12, 1926 in Clay County, son of the late Harvey D. and Ruby (Wilson) Hagen.

    He later married Patricia Schwermin of Dallas, NC.

    Mr. Hagen was a retired construction worker and a Veteran of the US Army.

    He is survived by sons Daniel Urban Hagen of Charleston and Lance DeWitt Hagen of San Antonio,TX; daughters Peggy Lohman of St. Charles and Gail Ann Hagen of Dallas, TX; brothers Carl Hagen of Louisville, Richard Hagen of Wilmington, and Alan Hagen of Rock Island; sisters Alice Papendorf of Marion, WI, Mary Lu Harbert of Taylorsville, SC, Anna May Krutsinger of Flora, and Lillian Jones of Ligonier, IN; and four grandchildren.

    Mr. Hagen was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and a sister.

    Military Service:
    Entered active service as a draftee on November 15, 1944 at Chicago, Illinois. Entered basic training and assigned to Company C, 5th Battalion, Army Replacement Training Center. Honorably discharged with a certificate of disability as a Private on January 19, 1945 at Darnall General Hospital, Danville, Kentucky. Earned the WWII Victory Medal for service during the period of eligibility.
