Assigned to and served with the 493rd Quartermaster Depot Company and participated in the Northern Solomons campaign. Honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant on October 1, 1945 at the Separation Center, Fort Sheridan, Illinois. Earned the Combat Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 1 Bronze Battle Star, and the WWII Victory Medal.

    William L. 'Junior' Schnepper, age 91, passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2016, at Flora Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

    Junior was born January 1, 1925, in Pixley Township, Clay County, Illinois, the son of William and Laura (Koehler) Schnepper. He was united in marriage to Evelyn (Devore) in Flora. Evelyn preceded him in death on May 17, 2009.

    An outdoorsman at heart, he spent a lifetime working on the land of the family farm, and trapping. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and was stationed at Saipan. He was a 63-year member of the Sailor Springs American Legion Post #230. Junior was a longtime member of the Fairfield and Olney Coin Clubs, and he and Evelyn enjoyed attending their meetings and events.

    He is survived by seven children: Richard (wife Delores) Schnepper, Gary (wife Linda) Schnepper, Danny (wife Cathy) Schnepper, Barbara (husband Dana) Milligan, John (wife Kris) Schnepper, Paul (wife Regina) Schnepper, and Glenn (wife Linda) Schnepper; ten grandsons: Jeriad, Jason, Scott, Chad, Ryan, Michael, Josh, William, Brian, and Andrew; eight granddaughters: Emily, Josie, Jessica, Amanda, Sarah, Hanna, Abbey, and Allison; 24 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law: Clara Willis of Olney and Zelda Devore of Flora; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and a brother: Francis “Sam” Schnepper.

    Private family services will be conducted with entombment at Dillman Cemetery, Sailor Springs, where military funeral honors will be presented. Memorial donations are suggested to Clay County Hospice or the Sailor Springs American Legion and these will be accepted through the funeral home.

    Funeral arrangements are in the care of Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.

    Military Service:
    Entered active service as a draftee on January 23, 1945 at Chicago, Illinois. Selected for duty with the Signal Corps, completed basic training, and qualified in the military occupational specialty of supply clerk (MOS 835). Departed the Continental U.S. on July 11, 1945 bound for the Pacific Theater of Operations. Assigned to and served with the 3164th Signal Service Group. Honorably discharged as a Technician Fourth Grade on August 26, 1946 at the Separation Center, Fort Sheridan, Illinois. Earned The Meritorious Unit Award, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, and The WWII Victory Medal.

    Jeanie Marie Hall Obituary
    Jeanie Marie Hall, 80, of Clay City, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, March 31, 2024.



    Jeanie was born January 8, 1944 in Richland County, Illinois, the daughter of Francis Frederick "Sam" and Billie Jean (Michels) Schnepper. She was married to Gerald "Butch" Hall, and he preceded her in death on December 11, 2008.



    Jeanie was best known for owning the 111 Club in Clay City for 42 years, but she was much more than just a business owner. She treated her customers and her community as family. Jeanie held benefits for people in need, hosting bike and Jeep runs, as well as hosting weddings, birthday parties, holiday parties, and family get-togethers. Jeanie enjoyed Bingo trips with her brother, Corky, and friends, going on cruises, attending auctions, working puzzles, playing cards, and mushroom hunting. Jeanie especially loved spending time with her family. She loved being a grandma and was proud of her new role as a great grandma.

    Jeanie was also a member of Clay City Baptist Church.



    Jeanie is survived by her daughter, Alesia (Victor Tenney) Klingler of Clay City; son, G. Bryan Hall II of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Kelsea (Damian Jeffro) Klingler of Marion, IL and Kenzea Klingler of Fort Myers, FL; great grandchildren, Reagan Jeffro and Daxton Jeffro; siblings, Micheal Schnepper and Mary Jo (Larry) Patridge; sister-in-law, Roberta Schnepper; and several nieces and nephews.



    She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, William "Corky" Schnepper.



    Cremation Rites will be accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held for Jeanie at 3:00 PM on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Clay City, with a visitation beginning at 1:00 until service time at the funeral home.



    Memorials can be made to Clay County Hospice or Clay County Cancer Crusaders.

    William A. “Corky” Schnepper, 68, of rural Rinard, died at 9:35 a.m., Monday, February 2, 2015 at his home.

    Corky was a retired truck driver, former owner of “Corky’s Bar” in Clay City, and had also worked in the oil fields. He served in Vietnam as a member of the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and the Centralia Area Fold-Em Club. He was also an avid golfer, poker player, die-hard Cubs fan and classic car enthusiast.

    Corky was born November 23, 1946 in Sailor Springs, the son of Francis (Sam) and Billie Jean (Michels) Schnepper.

    He is survived by his wife: Roberta (Lamb) Schnepper; two daughters and son-in-law: Kristin and Joey Hale and Ericka Lamb and fiancé Phillip Spicer; brother and sister-in-law: Michael and Jodi Schnepper; two sisters and brother-in-law: Jeanie Hall and Mary Jo and Larry Patridge; five grandchildren: Nicole Wells, Jesse Miller, Jerron Thilker, Destiny Lamb and Brittny Spicer; along with several nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Beverly, baby daughter: Sondra, and ex-wife: Vickie.

    A funeral service for Corky Schnepper was held at Frank & Bright Funeral Home with Pastor Brad Harris officiating.

    Interment followed in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora, where military honors were presented.

    Memorial donations to Clay County Animal Rescue Shelter (CCARS).
